As the 6 January Committee hearings have demonstrated, the GOP entered into a wide-ranging complicated plot to illegally install the Ol’ Pussy Grabber in office. It is important not to focus just on Trump and the 6 January Insurrection, but to do so, we need to soar to the 30,000 foot level and crane our heads around to peer out the window. Hopefully it’s not too cloudy and we don’t have a seat over the wing because we need a panoramic view to take it all in. Lucky for us we don’t have to piece every plot together and create a timeline and complete picture of the conspiracy because MSNBC’s Ari Melber host of The Beat beat us to it and already performed that community service.
Melber has produced a special report in which he outlines and details all of the coup plots. It includes a nifty timeline graphic showing the overlap and succession of each plot. It even graphically demonstrates when a plot shifts from legal to illegal. There are like seven of them and they vary in legality from the legal lawsuits to the blatantly illegal like the military seizing voting machines. But, by the end of it, other than the lawsuits, they all turned illegal, well except for the lawfully elected and appointed electors, which Trump LOST necessitating the coup. And, if you count the lawsuits as frivolus, then, even that would be, too.
The Special Report on All the Coups
Melber posted his special report to their YouTube page in two segments, so I’ve embedded them below for you not to watch because NO BODY, except for one alleged masochist, watches embedded video. There is a list of the plots after that and a brief discussion of their implications with an emphasis on the 2022 election.
The Coup Program
- Lawsuits — They lost all of them, Katie, except for one minor one. So, ha HA, as Bart Simpson would say.
- Electors — He coulda won here except that he didn’t.
- States overturning votes — Trump’s calls to state legislators and secretaries of state. You don’t think he only called Georgia’s Raffensperger, do you?
- DoJ Interference — Clark as AG vouches for voter fraud to the swing states to provide cover for decertification
- Military siezes voting machines — Trump knew it was illegal because his advisors told him so, so he made a half-assed appointment of Sidney Powell as special prosecutor and moved on.
- Congress overturns votes — The Green Bay sweep: MoC’s challenge slates of electors from swing states, Pence rejects slates of electors, Pence counts alternative slates, kicks it back to the states for investigation, or does does both.
- 6 January Insurrection — We all know what happened here.
On 5 November, only two days after the election, as votes were being counted and it was looking like the Ol’ Pussy Grabber had grabbed his last pussy, Don-Don texted WH Chief of Staff, Meadows, that they controlled multiple paths to victory and outlined the lawsuits, recounts in swing states, alternative slates of electors plans, and throwing it to Congress so we could have VP Harris waiting for Trump to die of a heart attack or something (What’s the over binder that Trump don’t make it to ’24?)
Don-Don’s lawyer is arguing that he is too stupid to understand what he had texted (paraphrasing with artistic license) and that he had merely forwarded a text he had received from someone — Who knows who? He got so many cuz he’s a very impo’tent man! He can’t be held responsible! Whatever, Don-Don. You know can’t make those claims? Mark Meadows. Mark, bus; bus, Mark! You know the drill. Seriously, Mark, I know you read Ye Olde Blogge, free advice: flip.
What the Condon to Meadows text suggests is that people on team crazy were looking for multiple ways to steal the elections, pretending to themselves that they all could work and hoping against hope that one would while team normal pretended that all this was normal and fine as long as it worked and no one would be held accountable, but as soon as the proverbial shit started hitting the ubiquitous fan, they voiced their outrage and some of them even published it all in books because grift!
As the Coup Turns
The coup started well before election day when Trump opined that the election would be fair only if he won because confidence, or, more likely, because Trump never won anything fair and square in his life, why would election 2020 be any different? Or 2016 for that matter? Or 2024?
Then, when the election was called for Biden, the lawsuits started dropping like sweat from Trump’s ass. Judges could hardly dismiss them with a straight face. With Safe Harbor Day, 8 December, rapidly approaching team crazy pounded the phones and flesh hard to create an insurmountable controversy in appointing electors from Michigan and Pennsylvania because, surprise surprise surprise, they added to 36 electors the exact number Trump was behind by. When the Electoral College met on 14 December and certified the election, desperation set in.
Without real evidence of fraud, state legislators, governors, and secretaries of state were reluctant to act. That’s when the fear and angst became palpable and the Hail Mary’s were uttered and Rudy Giuliani prayed that it was only the darkest before the dawn. Surely the dawn was coming.
The lame obtained scheme of appointing Sidney Powell special super-secret utterly ignored prosecutor and Pat Cipollone took out he’s cosplay hero’s cap and outer briefs and told everybody the military couldn’t grab no voting machines, no way, no how.
Now, it all turned on 6 January and Mother Pence reaching down his pants and grabbing his Trump boner, which made Mother kind of nervous because Mother probably wouldn’t approve of that any more than him having dinner alone with a woman… if she only knew. After consulting the be bestest expert on the vice presidency, Dan “Potatoe” Quayle, he found out grabbing his Trump boner was a no-no, god would find some other way for him to be president.
With Mother quaking in his boxers and sorely tempted to venture “south of the border” — no doubt that’s why Mother was there that day, intestinal fortitude. All joking aside, the proudest moment of Mother’s life was refusing to get into that limo.
By 6 January, they were left with Trump following the mob into the Capitol guns a blazing, including Maddog Greene, Loaded Bobert, Maddy Cawthorn, and declare himself winner in an exception that everyone would approve of because narcissist.
It seems that some of the militia lads thought Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act and let them cosplay Concord Minute Men, but, jokes on them, Trump NEVER does anything where he can be so clearly and singularly held to account.
Speaking of which, all those folks hoping for pardons for their role in the coup? Haha! You think Trump was going to pardon THEM and leave himself holding the bag? Gottamn, these people needed to read Ye Olde Blogge.
If accepting a pardon is the equivalent of a guilty verdict, then seeking a pardon is a confession, right? How many of the chief architects of Trump’s coup sought pardons? All of them, Katie! Not only did they commit criminal acts, they KNEW they were being criminals.
As you can see, there weren’t multiple plots, there was one. They just evolved, adjusted, and morphed as they rolled along, and they all ran through Trump and his screwball legal team of Giuliani, Powell, and Eastman. It is only when you take it all in that you see it clearly. And, of course, Garland knows all of this.

But, you won’t convince them of that. Isn’t that the problem? They believe supporting the anti-democratic authoritarian fascist GQP is patriotic. Racial animus is the tail wagging that dog, but there is no obvious solution for people who openly favor a system of racial minority rule.

I wish I had that confidence. Fascism sneaks in the back door. That is the German experience, slowly, over time, it just sort of happened. Milton Mayer writes in his book They Thought They Were Free: The Germans 1933-1945 not overnight, incrementally, like the legendary slow boiling of frogs.
“But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. If we don’t hold majorities in both houses not Congress and make inroads into state legislatures and prevent most Big Lie enthusiasts from winning state wide offices, then we’ll have lost our democracy.

“And, of course, Garland knows all of this.” There’s a sentence that should be giving Team Trump sleepless nights. For the prosecution, confessions are lovely things to have, but documents (paper and digital) and tapes are even better. Now, everybody wants to know what the FBI found at Mar A Lago.

The other big risk is that they may have found evidence of other crimes either contained within the confiscated documents or found in the course of the search. I guess the third big risk is that Trump has already sold copies to our enemies.
It is more than a little mind-boggling that he could walk out with over fifteen boxes of documents some of it so highly classified that they can’t be described in public. He isn’t capable of organizing and executing the caper, so who helped him?
Oh, and the smokescreen of bitching by MAGA pols and the rank and vile is essentially saying they’d rather live in a world where Trump sells d highly classified national secrets than one where he’s held accountable.

Trump would be very likely to maintain a “I’ve got you by the _______ [insert gender appropriate sensitive body part]” file of dirt on people he wants to control or attack. Some of those complaining about the search may have a lot to worry about.

I’m hoping there are records of pardon requests and information about the 6 January Insurrection. There’s a reason Trump wanted to follow safely behind the troops into battle, and it wasn’t because he’s such a people person or keen to charge into danger for a cause. There was a plan that probably involved Greene, Boebert, Hawthorn, and others once he got to the House chamber.

It is hard to believe that that was not the exact subject of their meeting on 1/4.
And the FBI did get a warrant to take the cell phone of one of them (the name escapes me at the moment) without advance notice and just walked up to him and took it on Monday.

Now that they’ve served subpoenas to Pennsylvania legislators, and seized Scott Perry’s phone, and raided Mar-a-Lago, I think we can safely say that the DoJ is investigating the upper echelons of the insurrection.
Suddenly, Garland is playing public hardball, filing to release the warrant and property list forcing Trump to decide whether he will release them, do nothing and let the court unsealed them, or fight to keep them sealed. Trump is fighting to keep them sealed because guilty guilty guilty.

Apparently, as of this morning (EDT), Trump has said he “approves of unsealing the warrant”. I think that means his lawyers convinced him that fighting that would both look bad and lose.
DOJ seems to have focused in on two things, the fake elector schemes, and the congressional co-conspirators of 1/6.
Garland did a fine, calm, and simple civics lesson on 4th Amendment protections, Probable Cause, and Without Fear or Favor. In chess terms, he was also saying, “Check”.

I’m sure you’re up on the reporting on what was found there. Trump is now claiming that he declassified it all, but that doesn’t save him from the violations of Presidential records act. Also, given his track record of not following chain-of-command on implementing some of his proclamations, he may have said they were declassified, but no one followed through with the procedure to actually declassify them just like he lost the carrier group at the beginning of his term and “appointed” Sydney Powell special prosecutor.

It has been reported that a President can REQUEST declassification, even insist on it, but there is a process, and, of course, he has to do it while he is in office, not after. Trump has consistently failed to remember that he was not ruling by decree with his whim as law.

The real laugher is that Trump claims to have had a standing order that any classified document he took to the residence was automatically declassified. It is laughable because he doesn’t read. I imagine he is either functionally illiterate and dyslexic or just barely functionally literate. Either way, he weren’t taking no documents classified or otherwise with him to the residence. Then, his staffers say they never heard of such an order. And, there is no follow up to ensure that the steps necessary to declassify a document are followed and the marking of the classified document are changed. The whole thing is laughable.

I can’t think of a better demonstration (among the many) of his ignorance of, and disinterest in, rules and procedures. I keep coming back to the role that ownership plays in Trump’s world view and experience. He felt that he owned the White House. “They” stole it. So, in a fit of cognitive dissonance, wounded narcissism, and tantrum, he grabbed a bunch of stuff, real Presidential Stuff, and took it with him. It shows the same level of emotional development as throwing the hamburger at the wall and tearing up documents in anger (or, frustration of trying to read them and getting confused). Now, he makes a daily grab at some good sounding claim, getting farther and farther out as he goes. It is possible, even likely, that he has never had a clear understanding or mental list of what he took, let alone, a plan.

I reckon that is right. He doesn’t know what is in his boxes. Worse, though, he didn’t have anyone go inventory them, so they would know. Given their track record for quality of work, though, he might have had someone go through them, and they just cocked it up like they did everything else.
I just posted an article looking more closely at his executive dysfunction and the contributions it made to the theft of these records. It can’t be the sole cause. It contributed it, but it there is no way he got records out of SCIF because he just didn’t return them.
As with everything else, it is the people surrounding him looking to exploit his vulnerabilities and weaknesses that are the real danger.

Yes, those SCIF document are a puzzle that must be solved. If you want to see people in the intelligence services with their hair on fire, just tell them somebody is taking things out of SCIF and leaving them laying around. And, that system is designed to not allow items to be removed improperly without somebody knowing. Who knew?

That’s what happens when you THINK you’re smarter than everyone else. Trump is so predictable and easily manipulated. The only thing that saved us from those who were using him was his contriness. If he got the sense you wanted him to do something, he wouldn’t. You had to let him think it was his idea. Probably why he and McConnell never got along. Mith wouldn’t play those games.

Yes, Mitch is a, “This is what we need to do, so let’s just do it.”, kind of guy. He has also regarded Trump as an upstart who hasn’t paid his dues coming up through the ranks.
Getting Trump to do something is much a matter of dropping the seed and waiting to see if it sprouts in his brain.

I was greatly disappointed that there weren’t more fireworks between McConnell and Trump. In fact, I thought that fight between them would be far more spectacular… and, I thought, McConnell would win. Instead, McConnell decided to just wait hi out. Very disappointing.

And, the MAGAs who have gotten into office positioned to take over leadership have no actual clue how to do it in a way that makes governing either their party or the country functional. There is a real thing in the rising through the ranks of political apprenticeship. Just getting carried into office on the shoulders of the mob doesn’t do that.
