The Psy of Life: CalicoJack Explains Life & Everything using Psychology & Snark
Increase views & visitors to a minimum of ten views and five per day by August 2016. One of the things I enjoy most about blogging — and the only thing that seems to give it a purpose — is getting visitors and views. I’ve had days where I’ve had 25 or 30 views. I’ve had days where I’ve had one or two. I would like to have a steady stream of visitors. And, of course, world domination.
Write a minimum of three blogs posts a week in June & July 2016. Since starting the blog earlier this month, I’ve been writing a lot. I’m pleased with that. But, while school is in session — I am a high school teacher — my schedule is erratic. During the between the school year break, I’d like to write regularly and steadily. It feels like I’ve found my niche. I like writing about psychology and how it can be applied to real life situations, especially politics and current events. And, of course, I love being sassy and snarky and sarcasticky, and profaney. So, it’s a win.
Find sites to pimp my blog by the end of June 2016. I started this blog because I enjoyed reading Wonkette, a snarky liberal blog, and thought, I could explain why so many people believe political lies like the death panels being part of the ACA long after they’ve been disproved. So, I wrote the article and sent it to them unsolicited. Naively, I thought they’d be thrilled by my submission. I went on to write four more and never once heard back from them. So, I started my own blog, started writing posts, and put the links in the comments of their articles. Apparently, that is not good netiquette. They never asked me to stop or banned me from the site or anything, but another commenter pointed out that blog whoring was against their commenting rules. With them, I’d get 20 to 30 hits per post. Without them, I’m struggling to get five visitors a post. It is depressing.

Don’t worry about the traffic!! As you keep posting you’ll get the views!! On course you’ll find co bloggers with same criteria and a lot of them are very interactive and helpful!!! You are on the right track😉

Leaving a link is redundant as by clickibg your name in the comment you left, we are brought over to your blog. Even though we have all been new and made mistakes, blogging etiquette is important so you don’t alienate readers.

I am sure the course we are taking (I am taking it too) will guide us through the do’s and dont’s 🙂 But in my experience – interacting and facebook seems to be the two things that drives traffic 🙂

Good luck with the goals! I’m told readership gains come if you interact with others, genuinely, on their blogs. Even if readership doesn’t climb in the ways you’d like, it’s wonderful you have an outlet for your writing. Stick with it!

Thanks, man, I really appreciate your support… and your relentless optimism. I try to visit blogs, but gosh there are so many! I read as much as I can — luckily, I like reading. And, I try to make a comment even if I am leaving a link to my own blog. I hate pimping like that, but I didn’t know what else to do. Now, I’m doing the Blogging U. course. Hopefully that will help.
