SUMMARY: Much has been made of Trump’s absence from the campaign trail and his incoherent and repetitive ineffective rhetoric that he’s used when he does make a public appearance. Many have attributed this to the sudden change in the race, but it is really much more severe. He is suffering from narcissistic collapse. He can no longer maintain his delusion of avenging his 2020 loss to Biden or his white perfection when he is losing to a Black woman.
KEY WORDS: Narcissistic Collapse, Trump, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, JD Vance, Tim Walz, Election 2020, Narcissistic Wound, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Crowd Sizes, Jon Tester
COMMENT: Let us know what you think of the severity of Trump’s narcissistic wounds and their effects on him. What do you think is the worst thing that has happened to him (a) he can no longer avenge his loss to Biden in Election 2020; (b) he is losing to a Black woman; or (c) Walz is a better VP pick than Vance is.
Much is being made of Trump’s absence from the campaign trail since the ascendence of Kamala Harris some eighteen days ago, and even more has been made of his meek attempts at campaigning in the past couple of days. First, he had an unhinged “press conference” at Merde-a-Lardo (Thanks, Tengrain!). And, then, there was his Montana meltdown rally in which he droned through the same old song and dance as he did in 2016 and 2020 only this time in Black face.
All of the liberal punditing pundits and their paid Never-Trumper reformed Republican shills, like Rick Max Cleland isn’t fit to lead during the War on Terror Wilson (I’ll be damned if I’ll ever EVER forget the ad, its effects on Cleland, or forgive that sonofabitch. Fuck him and all the Republican ratfuckers who want to milk MSNBC with their anti-Trump platitudes)… Anywho, where was I, oh yeah, All the thundering talking heads have been scratching their asses trying to figure out why Trump hasn’t been campaigning as aggressively as he used to.
Well, I got one word for all y’all: narcissistic collapse.
Trump’s Narcissistic Collapse
Narcissistic Collapse is the emotional and mental state that a narcissistic personality disorder finds themselves in when they realize that the entire world knows they are not perfect. It occurs only when they are forced to confront incontrovertible proof that not only are they not perfect but that everyone else knows it, too.
Trump’s Election 2024 Narcissistic Wounds
We’ll quickly review the narcissistic wounds that Trump has suffered in Election 2024:
- ELECTION 2020: Trump couldn’t find a way to cheat himself to a win in 2020 like it was some common Trump golf course championship. He tried, but he couldn’t do it. It is a narcissistic wound that he will never fully recover from. The only thing that will come close to salving that wound is beating Biden in 2024.
- BIDEN’S WITHDRAWAL: Dark Brandon took the prospect of beating Biden in 2024 from him. That is a very deep wound. You know it is because of the magical thinking that Trump has engaged in around it, loudly speculating that Biden will re-enter the race, talking up how the presidency was taken from Biden (note, Biden is still president and willingly gave up the nomination).
- KAMALA HARRIS: First, she’s Black. And second, she’s a woman. It was one thing for Obama to humiliate him at the WHCD and another to have lost the popular vote to Clinton in 2016, but he’ll be damned if a BLACK WOMAN is going to beat him in 2024. It will be the worst insult of all.
- TIM WALZ: Harris has a better VP candidate than he does. Vance just embarrasses him. Everybody loves Walz. It’s not fair. It’s not fair at all.
Trump’s Overinflated Election 2024 Ego
Making all of his narcissistic injuries worse is that throughout the #BidenSoOld controversy, Trump had convinced himself he was going to win in a landslide. He had all the pieces in place: (1) He had been assassination adjacent, convincing himself that he had survived something that would have killed most mortals by shear willpower alone, even though it was nothing more than a scratch. (2) He had a raucous convention. (3) He picked a vital young MidWesterner, and JD Vance really LIKES him. He’s a mini-me who is such a lickspittle, Vance publicly admitted that the vice presidential pick didn’t matter. They vetted their VP picks by asking for noose sizes, and JD was the only one submitting one, having measured it himself. Self-sacrificing is the way Trump likes all of his sycophants. And (4) he gave a droning lengthy boring acceptance speech by the end of which his ego was puffier than the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and bigger than the State of Texas.
He was so convinced of his impending victory, he told the Christians, They’d never have to vote again because he will have fixed it so good.
Trump’s Anxious Depression During His Narcissistic Collapse
While many narcissists react with a violent rage when their delusion of perfection collapses, Trump doesn’t. Remember, he was too cowardly to go to the Capitol to watch Maddog Greene shoot Nancy Pelosi during the 6 January Insurrection.
He disappeared on the campaign trail due to an anxious depression. He’s been holed up at Merde-a-Lardo during the off season literally licking his wounds and occasionally jactating on the social medias. His few appearance on the world stage have betrayed his anger, malice, and his eccentric narcissistic wounds. We’ll list out the wounds and how he’s attended to them:
- THE BlACKS. His incredible remarks at the NABJ were due to the prospect of being overshadowed by a BLACK WOMAN. He’s direct attack on her Blackness was due to the sizable wound she gives him.
- CROWD SIZES. He stood in front of reporters at his press conference and melted down about crowd sizes… AGAIN. Obviously, the whole enthusiastic large crowd size thing is such a huge narcissistic wound that he is reduced to pulling crowd numbers out of his ass and smearing on the reporters’ faces.
- JON TESTER??!?. He didn’t go to Monatana to shore up his boy, Tim Sheehy, for Senate, but to avenge himself against Jon Tester, who he blames for Ronnie Happy Pills Jackson not getting to run the VA. In case you’re keeping score at home that would be another narcissistic wound.
Trump’s absence from the campaign trail has drawn a lot of attention. This has allowed Harris and Walz to define themselves and to swat away the weak game that Vance and Trump’s surrogates have brought.
No one could understand why the usually bombastic vociferous rally-haver wasn’t out bombasting us vociferously at his numerous rallies. Spoiler: He was depressed because he’s losing to a BLACK WOMAN. It is literally his worst nightmare. Couple that with Biden having withdrawn so he can no longer beat him and avenge Election 2020, Trump may not be able to re-inflate his oversized ego.

Trump has some real issues going on here. There’s a lot more than just narcissism. Did you hear the ‘interview’ he did with Musk? there were some very odd comments, including this bit when talking about Harris:
“But I saw a picture of her on Time magazine today, she looks like the most beautiful actress ever to live,” Trump said. “It was a drawing. And actually she looked very much like a great first lady: Melania. She didn’t look like Camilla. That’s right. But of course she’s a beautiful woman. So we’ll leave it at that.”
This fellow has some serious problems going on.

He does indeed have some serious problems. Those comments about Harris are grounded in his narcissism. He can only view women in terms of how pleasing their looks are to him. That’s their only real quality, to be attractive to him. What’s worse, though, is that he is reducing her worth to being attractive to him. He’s subjugating her. He’s denigrating her. His comments on her are testament to how threatened he feels by her and the severity of the narcissistic wound she inflicts on him.
I imagine, Harris has another quality similar to Melania’s, she has no real use for or attraction to Trump.

I think he’s too much of a coward to commit suicide, but he’s losing the ability to finish a sentence or speak with even a modicum of coherence. I’m betting on his continuing descent.
As to all the ways these creeps are planning to steal the election, if we’re able to capture the electoral college and get huge numbers of popular votes, their efforts become much harder.

Trump is not a likely candidate for suicide. However, people choose suicide when they see themselves with no other viable option. All of us can find ourselves in that position. Trump will almost always perceive victory as just around the corner, which will keep suicidal ideation and plans at bay.
Trump’s clear cognitive decline gets worse when he is distressed, kinda like losing to a Black woman would do to him. At the debate, Harris has to be ready for his word salad and exploit it. She doesn’t have to challenge the truth of what he said, but the coherence of it. It will trip him up.
She must also go on the offense speaking like a prosecutor. Trump is a terrible witness in court. The last time he testified, no one thought his cognitive abilities were in doubt. If she can get him back on his heels defending his #COVID19 response, let’s say, he will blunder and bluster. We could be treated to a spectacular meltdown the likes of which are usually reserved for the privacy of one’s own home.
Play her cards right, and Trump could be done after the debate, kinda like Biden was.

I have trouble picturing what she does after she says, “I’m speaking!” several times and he just keeps talking over her.
I wish she didn’t have to debate him—he’s a traitorous criminal unworthy of that podium position. I’m hoping he finds a way NOT to show up.

One of the most effective things Biden did during one of his 2020 debates with Trump was say, “Would you shut up, man?” into the open mic as Trump interrupted him again and again. Showing that kind of anger works better for men because sexism. Harris, though, can take a page from Biden’s playbook and Reagan’s. Reagan famously responded with “There you go again,” to either Mondale or Carter during a debate and flustered them to no end. I loved one of Harris’ early campaign speech responses to Trump, “Same old show.” I think she could use it to devastating effect on him.
He’s so far into narcissistic collapse now, it won’t take much to reduce him to a puddle of sputtering red faced hysteria.
One of his excuses not to show up is her not going to his 4 September debate that he agreed with himself to have.
I wish everyone in the whole damn country would just shun him and the entire MAGA Republican Party, but…

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve checked everything. (a) The reblog button is on my post even on an incognito window, so maybe it is something on your end? Reload the page? And (b) you don’t get a choice — at least with the template I’m using — about whether the reblog or like buttons appear at the end of your post. It isn’t part of the social media button choices. As far as I can tell, I have no direct control over it.

This has me pondering the scheduled “debate” (Trump does not debate, he “Trumps”). His only conceivable goal in that event, assuming he does not find an excuse to not show up, must be to dominate “that woman” and have visions of reducing her to helpless tears and submission. In fact, he might be able to go so far as to imagine raping her on stage on national TV. The wounds are that deep.
Of course, it won’t work, and her deadliest weapon against him is laughter and observing that he is not answering the questions (unless the moderators have the balls to actually do that this time), and that he is not making sense. He will try, even if his mike is off, to interrupt and talk over her. I imagine her delivering again the “I am speaking.” line, probably in the Mom Voice, as an adult to a young child. The more he finds that he cannot dominate her, the worse he will get, more agitated, less organized, more delusional, and less coherent.
That event could well turn out to be worse for him than the one with Biden was for Biden. I doubt thee will be any more talk of more debates, unless he goes full blown delusional, or, he just can’t realize that he did not win.

Of course you remember the weird stalky thing Trump did to Clinton on the debate stage, looming close behind her. That was his attempt at physically intimidating her at pulling an E Jean Carroll on her. It all comes from the same place. He has a permanent narcissistic injury from women. It makes you wonder what people like Hope Hicks put up with working closely with him after watching all but grope and French kiss Ivanka on stage several times. Best not to think about any of that too carefully or in too much detail.
I love Harris’ dismissive line, “Same old show,” that she’s used several times when referring to Trump’s divisive hateful rhetoric. I hope she uses it on him in the debates. It will drive him nuts. In fact, I think the Harris team has his number and will work extra hard to get under his skin and to inoculate her against his attempts to get under hers. I think she’s going to Jeffry Beauregard Sessions his dumb flabby hairless white ass. I hope so. If she does, she’ll win the election. People will eat that right up.
However, Trump will bring his A-game. He has demonstrated that for short targeted contained moments in time, he is able to have just enough discipline to pursue a goal. He will be throwing it all at her. I don’t think it will work, though. I know they’ve done their oppo research on her and will be trying to trip her up and get her angery. She doesn’t respond well to confrontation. She had a bad moment in an interview when confronted about not having been to the border, so there’s that.

When a man like that sets out to get a woman angry or intimidated and it doesn’t work, he invariably just tries harder. In domestic situations, that generally leads to either violence or storming off. If she can not only remain calm, but laugh at him dismissively, the wound is the deepest and most maddening. A lot will depend on the design of the event, the rules, whether microphones remain on or are turned off, the degree to which the moderators attempt to get him to actually answer questions and debate rather than rant, and whether there is an audience and the composition of that audience. Even things like whether they take turns at a single podium or each have their own and if so how far apart they are.

I think you’re right. Most abusive men are one trick ponies because they cannot imagine they’re efforts at provocation or intimidation not working. If it doesn’t work immediately, it must be because they didn’t do enough. They just do more of the same. Their frustration will enrage him. It will not only inflict a narcissistic wound that will demand immediate vengeance, but induce narcissistic collapse because it is so public.
I’m not saying that’s the way it will play out, but if it does, we could see something truly spectacular.
Trump’s team runs hot and cold, probably dependent on his attitude towards whatever it is they are preparing to do and planning. I cannot help but think his narcissism, racism, and misogyny will dictate that he be in total charge of his debate preparation. He will want to treat her like he did the NABJ panel.
Meanwhile, Harris has two advantages. First, she is rational and has an experienced well-organized campaign working with her for debate preparation. And second, they’ve seen Trump debate many times before, but especially against Clinton and Biden. Trump telegraphs his attack lines clearly enough that they can be prepared for most of them. I bet they even try and prepare for a black swan or two, attack lines and behaviors that come out of the blue.
I’m looking forward to the debate. The Harris team doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

In many ways, preparation for a debate is much like an attorney’s preparation for trial. Mastery of the side’s arguments and evidence, and discipline in presentation are skills Harris has long practiced, both as defense and prosecution. We have seen Trump’s lawyers, obviously at his direction, flail at that and fall back on complaining about the process. I doubt that we can expect much better from those who may be attempting to help him prepare. After all, the greatest stable genius the world have ever known does not need to prepare or take advice.
There is a good chance that the actual task for Trump in this thing will not be to win, which he cannot do, but simply to survive.

I heard someone talking on one of the talking head shows saying that Harris’ time as VP was really good for her. It gave her time out of the spotlight to grow into her role. Her 2020 campaign was rough and she was given the no win task of ending the push side of the push-pull of immigration from Central America just as a lot more pushing started being done in a lot more areas of the world.
She certainly seems a lot more poised and confident now than she did in 2020. The team that she inherited from Biden is deep, also. It includes many veterans of the 2020, 2016. and 2012 campaigns. They have a lot of experience, and Harris is accustomed to using a team. But, her political instincts seem to be about right. It may be because she’s prosecuted so many people like Trump.
If Trump makes it to the 10 September debate and he actually shows up, it’s going to be quite the show.

Perhaps the single greatest difference between Harris and Trump, other than his personality disorder, is that she learns and he doesn’t. And, she learns fast.

Great point! The learning and adapting is in stark relief right now, ain’t it?
In narcissistic collapse, though, I imagine that changing anything would produce even more anxiety and distress in a psyche that is already stretched to its limit.

I’m fascinated by all of this, really. I must admit that I seem to have made a drastic mistake in assuming that Biden withdrawing in favor of Harris was going to be disastrous for the democrats. I never anticipated what seems to be going on right now, this massive surge of enthusiasm on the part of the Dems since she became the candidate.
Meanwhile, the whole Trump campaign seems to suffering from the political equivalent of shell shock. Their response to Harris and Walz seems to consist of nothing more than the same tired old tropes they’ve been throwing at the dems for years now. Generic comments about “evil liberals”, mutterings about socialists and communists, and…
Okay I wasn’t going to stoop to this but it was so funny that I have to. A self appointed “prophet” over on Flashpoint, one of Trump’s favorite shows and one he’s called personally several times, dropped this little gem about Walz, claiming that Walz was apparently personally picked by the Anti-Christ himself to be the VP candidate. “…And you know it’s interesting how the spirit of antichrist just loves to pick these people that fit right in with the wicked overlord lizard mafia that is really driven by their goblin masters…”
Overlord lizard mafia and their goblin masters? No wonder Trump likes the show.

I am with you all the way. They don’t talk this way because they support the Democratic party against the shambolic stew of resentment, rage, white supremacism and authoritarianism that is the GOP that they had an enormoous part in creating; what they want is for the Democratic party to turn into their very own manic pixie dream Republican Party; in other words, demanding that we clean up the messes they made.
As usual.
They run on ‘fiscal responsibility’ as they ran up the deficit, then fought Clinton tooth and nail for eight years as he turned the deficit into a surplus for the first time in decades, then promptly blew it all up again, first on mindless wars after 9/11, then watching as the world economy imploded.
THEY were the ones who brought the prototype Trump onto the national GOP ticket in the form of Sarah ‘All of them, Katie‘ Palin.
Then they fought Obama tooth and nail as he tried to clean that mess up, then feigned horror as the reprogrammable meatheads (h/t driftglass ) they reprogrammed as the ‘Tea Party‘ nominated and elected a serial bankrupt failed businessman, con man and absoluetly unqualified moron, who promptly managed to fuck up everything he touched, aided and abetted by as corrupt a crew of political appointees who ever served in government; ending in the nightmare mishandling of Covid so that the US ended up with the greatest death toll (proportionate to population) of any of our peer nations.
Then topped it off by trying to stay in power by inciting a violent riot in the Capitol in order to prevent the winner of the election to take office.
And now they’re begging us to stop him again, so they can turn around and start calling us radical leftists who should turn their backs onf the Democratic base, again, and ‘pivot to the center’ again lest the ‘real’ americans not vote for Democrats again.
You know, the ‘Centrists’ who want to enact policies that just coincidentally, match all of their preferences. All the things MAGA wants, just without all the weird, scary, creepy bits.

I’ve always hated the good-guy washing of all of the Republican ratfucking operatives who suddenly became never-Trumpers and started collecting fat special guest fees from liberal media outlets. They’re still ratfucking us. None of these people should be welcome anywhere.
The only one of them who may have any redemption in him is Stuart Stevens when he published his book, “It Was All Lies,” or whatever the precise title was. But, of course, he’s made a tidy profit off of that, hasn’t he. Michael Cohen seems to be following the John Dean path, including have served jail time for his crimes, so he is more acceptable. But, as far as I know, Rick Wilson has never gone back and said boo about the shit he pulled to get the assholes elected that have led us to Trump.
Michael Steele is another one. Jesus, does anyone remember the Las Vegas hooker scandal that Steele orchestrated as head of the RNC? Nicole Wallace as “nice” as she is, still worked for McCain and tolerated Palin on the ticket. All of them have not had their come to Jesus moment, prostrated themselves before us and begged for forgiveness. They have not acknowledged their personal direct role in the very real harm, economic, criminal, corruption, moral, that they’ve inflicted on us.
Unless and until we drag them all kicking and screaming through some restorative justice process, I don’t see any reason to have anything to do with any of them. It pisses me off every time I see one of them mentioned in the media.
And, you’re right. They’re just waiting in the wings to rebuild their proto-fascist machine when Trump and MAGA finally crashes and burns.

I try to spend as little time as possible thinking about how much more dangerous he can get as his loss of control over events simply increases. Of course, he believes he’ll seize power regardless of the vote totals.
PS: I welcome your thoughts about identity politics, which I just write about.

Pesky life. Never getting its priorities straight. I tell you, the things you have to endure to be a part-time blogger and full-time citizens…
The only saving grace of Trump is that he’s a coward and has so little executive functioning that he can’t organize anything himself. For example, he couldn’t get himself to the Capitol on 6 January to lead the insurrection, which was the plan. If he had, things would’ve gone very differently. He was satisfied with watching it all on the TV from his kitchen. He didn’t get the Proud Boys or the other militias there. He didn’t organize the speech.
He can’t do anything without help from others. It remains to be seen how effective the people surrounding him are at organizing all of the cheating that they’re going to do to steal the 2024 election. They’ve got people in place to refuse the to certify the election results at county and state level. They have judges that will rule in their favor. They have people to go to polling sites to intimidate, challenge, and otherwise suppress the Democratic vote. They have people to challenge and remove voters from the registrations lists. But, none of that is Trump.
Trump will rant and rave, berate and disparage, he’ll throw things and break things, but that’s about the extent of his skill set. Hopefully, he’ll be doing all of those things in very public ways and alienate voters even more from him.
Hitler and other narcissists who were in collapse, committed suicide rather than face life without their delusion of perfection being in place. They were in situations where it was clear that there was no going back. It was over. Our politics and courts move so slowly that Trump will always be able to recover his equilibrium — he’s been in narcissistic collapse before — and believe that victory is just around the corner. He probably will never get to a point where he would commit suicide because of this.
