SUMMARY: With the brutal murder of Alex Pretti, it is clear that guns and a liberal interpretation of the 2nd Amendment do not make us safer. It is an absurd argument to make

They say every silver lining has a dark center. That’s true of the awful humanitarian disaster that El Grand Narcisista and friends have brewed up in Minnesota. The one good thing to come out of Trump’s murder of two real live American citizens brutally shot to death before a half dozen camera phones each is that it puts the lie to Second Amendment nutjobs’ claim that a well armed citizenry can resist government oppression.
Uselessness of Violent Resistance
A proper militia might, but it would mean open civil war, which we’ve just about got in Minnesota. Let’s break it down:
When the state and local authorities are in conflict with ICE agents, they back down. What choices do they have? When state and local investigators showed up after Alex Pretti s disgraceful murder, they were turned away. Can you imagine what would’ve insured if they had tried to arrest ICE officers? Would they really have had a SWAT team descend upon them. Surround them? Negotiate an end to the stand off? Would ICE try to break the siege?
Governor Walz called up the national guard who are handing out hot chocolate and treats to protesters, which is great and all. Perhaps they could form human shields between ICE and protesters and go to assist fallen protesters that ICE has assaulted. Would the ICE agents have shot a guardsman who was helping a woman they had physically abused? Probably not, but can the guard be everywhere? Probably not.
An Armed Society Is NOT A Peaceful Society

As it turns out the Second Amendment nuts’ claims that an armed society is a polite society is completely wrong. You cannot help but feel threatened by a gun when it is present. The more tense the situation, the more threatening the gun is. The casual observer cannot distinguish between a so-called good guy with a gun and a potential mass shooter much less a highly agitated fearful barely in control ICE agent.
It is beyond me why anyone would bring a gun to an anti ICE protest — not that Pretti’s murder is his fault. Law enforcement, ment follows Chekov’s movie-play law, a gun must be fired, Carrying a gun just puts everyone on edge, especially g-people with itchy trigger figgers that are just spoiling for a fight.
Effectiveness of Peaceful Mass Protest
We’re seeing the effectiveness of peaceful mass protest play out in front of our eyes. The obvious wrongful shooting of Alex Pretti — shot three times in the back!!?! when he had been wrestled to the ground??!? For god’s sake the best case scenario was that he was running away.
Armed masked government agents only act like this when they have permission but also when they are freaked completely out. It is the abusive parent who finds that there is a limit to the efficacy of beatings. You have to keep upping the ante, but where do you go from murdering individual protesters on national TV? Massacres?

It is the administration that is beginning to bend and crumble under the pressure. They are now “reviewing” everything, like you can believe anything that comes out of the administration nowadays. The thousands upon thousands of people protesting ICE has put pressure on the government to change its policy. They withdrew from Chicago. They took their agents from New Orleans and moved them to Minneapolis. They were hoping that they could just outlast us, exhaust us, and overwhelm us with all of the agents that their billions for oppression could buy, but it is clear that they cannot.
Senseless brutal murders as filmed by citizens and broadcast on social media has turned the public against ICE and the mass deportation policy. Smearing the civilian dead as terrorists and lying about who the protesters are and who they are actually deporting will not work. It is plainly obvious. Painfully even.
If there is something good that will come out of the horror that the Orange Caricature has thrust upon is, hopefully, it is the lie that guns will protect us from a ruthless oppressive government. ICE has demonstrated that they will meet resistance with overwhelming force. Any attempt at violent resistance will be met with the Insurrection Act and the US armed forces. ICE will be even more trigger happy. The bankruptcy of the Second Amendment meaning an armed citizenry has been laid bare.

What ICE is doing is exactly why we have the 2nd and it is time for a rethink. chuq

It does no one any good to get into a shoot out with ICE agents under any circumstances no matter who it is. I pray that it is not some citizens who take shots at ICE. I keep thinking it will be the city police, county sheriff’s, state troopers, or national guard that will. If it is an official state agency, it is going to be a dicey situation.
It is clear that the ICE tactic is to get the citizenry to back down by upping the violence and pain ante. Hopefully, that will not work. Hopefully, the protesters will continue to channel Gandhi and suffer what ever violence ICE throws at them and the rest of us are sickened enough by it to change our government.

People who go to the trouble to get a permit to carry concealed tend to then wear that gun everywhere it is not specifically forbidden (often public buildings, schools, and libraries). So, that man did not “bring a gun to a protest” as an intentional act. He just went there dressed as usual, which included the gun.
Apparently, from the witness videos, the gun was holstered at the small of his back. When the ICE guys began interacting with him they could not see it. It was only visible to them when they got him on the ground face down. Then, they took it away before killing him. What does that tell me?
WHO SAID WHAT TO WHOM AND WHY?
The script for the gaslighting was already written. All they needed was a “protester” (any bystander would do) with a gun, or any other potentially deadly weapon, but especially a gun, that they could kill “in self defense”.
Why? To escalate the situation further to justify even more forceful actions and accusations of insurrection and rebellion. They are looking for their Fort Sumpter moment between the Federal Government and Minnesota.

More like a Gulf of Tonkin incident. Unfortunately, we’ve got too much video to let that work. For Trump et al. they are preaching to the choir. They need only convince MAGA, which they are being fairly successful doing. They’ve got around 65% approval from MAGA for how they’re carrying out mass deportation.
What’s clear is that ICE escalated the interaction both with the two women and him. Neither the women or Pretti were acting in a threatening way towards ICE. As soon as Pretti got between the agents and the women they were abusing, he became the target of a vicious attack. Worse, he was completely subdued except for his uncontrollable reaction to being pepper sprayed in the face at pointblank range.
He was executed for standing up to ICE. Those men are completely out of control and have no regard for laws or legal practices.
As for taking a gun to one of these protests, no one should do it habit or not for the simple reason that you cannot use a gun if you don’t have one.

I’m sure that those who have set these goons loose on the streets are waiting and hoping that somebody will bring a gun and use it. After all, to them, even ICE agents are expendable.

To Stephen Miller, ICE agents are as expendable as the next Black, Brown, non Christian person is.
To Kristi Noem, as her puppy.
Although, from what I understand, recruiting is going pretty slowly.

When the training and official policy is to regard all protesters as out to kill them, and bystanders and passers by as suspicious, it is small wonder they behave as they do. That really does attract a relatively small portion of the population.

With all the crap I have heard over the years about the 2nd amendment and citizen gun rights, I can’t understand why ICE are the only ones doing the shooting. This looks like a potential Lexington and Concord moment to me. Of course I would rather that nobody do any shooting, but apparently somebody does not think the way i do.

ICE obviously doesn’t think the way you or any of us do when it comes to using deadly force. The administration is only encouraging their lawless deadly behavior, too. I pray that no one takes the bait and shoots back. They will respond with overwhelming force and the Insurrection Act will be invoked.
There is a narrow line being walked here between defiance and violence. Hopefully, it is one that only ICE will be crossing.
