At a recent town hall, Castratin’ Joni Ernst told her responded to a constituent’s concerns about Medicaid cuts by quoting that quaint Viet Nam War protest song by Country Joe and the Fish, I Feel Like I’m Fixing to Die Rag, saying — allegedly — “Whoopee! We’re all going to die!“
It really does tell us all we need to know about what the Republican Party is and their plans for us. They are the party of oligarchy. They plan on creating the #GOPDystopia in which we all live in Cancer Alley, drinking Flint Water, using Texas utilities, and getting Florida education. If we aren’t deported to foreign gulags as undocumented gang members, then we’ll live in their single-pary, pseudo-democratic, white minority-rule authoritarian oligarchy where we’re guaranteed to die quickly and quietly when we can no longer contribute more to the one percent than we cost.

While I agree with the base sentiment you’re expressing, it is not the type of comment that I welcome here. I’m hoping for something a little more substantive than what is essentially name calling. There are many forums where such comments are encouraged, you should seek those ones out. If you wanted to list the ways you think Joni Ernst is godless, I might entertain that as a comment. I’m sure you understand.

I’m reminded of another song that speaks to the point, “The Work Song”. I’m fond of Maria Muldaur’s version. The relevant refrain is:
“Woah, backs broke bending, digging holes to plant the seeds
The owners ate the cane and the workers ate the weeds
Putting wood in the stove and water in the cup
You worked so hard that you died standing up”
Yep, that’s pretty much the vision in play.

Those are the days the GOP and their oligarchic masters seem to be longing for. They want to take us back to the 1880s in America, during Jim Crow and industrialization, when rights were virtually nonexistent. I’m sure you’re familiar with Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle” and Jacob Riis’ “How The Other Half Lives.” At the time of their publication, these works were scandalous and pushed middle-class voters to support progressive reforms. Now, it seems they are being used as user manuals for how to manage workers in the cheapest way possible.
They really do want us to die quickly and quietly when we start to cost more than we contribute. They really want white minority-rule, an apartheid state. I always “knew” that, but now that it is here, I’m still shocked by it.

I know that I this isn’t news to you, but we had over a million unnecessary deaths due to #COVID19 under Trump and the excess death toll from unregulated guns adds up to hundreds of thousands more. With their slashing the budgets of non-military spending to the bone, we’re going to be adding so many more to the body count. We get all this misery and suffering just so Elon Musk can have a chance of becoming a $500 billionaire before the climate finally gives out and we experience mass die offs every year and Trump can soothe his narcissistic wounds and grift as much money as he can.

The standard tin-horn dictator’s playbook. The Nazis are using him as a useful idiot, and he’s using them as useful idiots. The common denominator? Idiocy.

Right. The US is exiting the world stage. The US that kept aggressive militaristic regimes like China, North Korea, Iran, and Russia in check is now not going to be doing that any more. Those countries will pursue their hegemonic and territorial goals, i.e. China is acquiring Taiwan in one form or fashion over the next ten years? Five years? Next year? Trump is for sale. When does China buy Taiwan from him? When does the US withdraw troops from South Korea? Luckily, North Korea can’t buy South Korea from him because they can’t outbid South Korea and Japan and Russia, China, and Iran don’t really want them taking South Korea. The Saudis will pay for the US to keep bullying Iran, so the damage they do in the ME will be limited, but Saudi is happy for Netanyahu and the Zionists to genocide the Palestinians, and no one cares what happens to Lebanon any more because they civil warred and corrupted themselves to irrelevance.
Because we will be missing our carbon goals by Himalayan proportions, we’ll be seeing climate disasters around the globe. The US is sunk and going into the dark ages, but we’re taking the rest of the world with us, baby.
