On 26 February 2012, Trayvon Martin was shot dead in cold blood. It is a murder that started the Black Lives Matter movement. Every year it is overshadowed by something. Often another senseless murder of a young unarmed Black man by a police officer like George Floyd.
Ye Olde Blogge posts on its anniversary just to bring some acknowledgement and memory for the outrageous galling act committed by a callous narcissist, just so we don’t forget. Just so we have a chance to do something to make murders like this one less likely.
Unfortunately, we seem to be moving backwards.
This year, though, it is overshadowed by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Our minds and our hearts are elsewhere.
Let’s take a moment during this chaotic and worrying time to remember the boy whose life was taken prematurely and dedicate ourselves to making this world a safer, happier, healthier place.

The fight over guns and gun violence has several arenas, doesn’t it? Suicide, homicide, accidental shootings, mass shootings, police brutality, domestic abuse, open and concealed carry bozos. It really does go on every single day whether we hear about it or not.
Huzzah!
