I think one of the big lessons of the 6 January Insurrection was how badly Trump failed as a revolutionary. Whatever you think of Trump, he absolutely failed to take advantage of a situation that was tailor made for him to overthrow the government and install himself as president-for-life.
Think about it. Whoever was in the War Room at the Willard Scott Hotel that day, whoever the armed and ready representatives on the floor of the House that day, whoever the militia members in the rioters that day were, they were all waiting for Trump to signal them for the blood bath to begin.
All Trump had to do was go to the Capitol Building, and he couldn’t make it happen.
- He was out maneuvered by Mark Meadows — Mark fucking Meadows! — at least, according to Cassidy Hutchinson.
- His Secret Service delegation defied direct orders from him.
- He didn’t invoke the Insurrection Act.
Whatever the plan was for that day, Trump failed in his part of it. It was simply a failure of nerve, of imagination, of understanding of his role. Any revolutionary worth their salt would’ve succeeded that day. It only comes once or twice in a lifetime, and Trump utterly failed, proving himself, once again, to have the feculent touch.
His handlers learned from it, but Trump won’t be handled. He is too much the contrarian to allow anyone to tell him what to do. He’s got to be center stage in the limelight, or he goes all elephant in a china shop on your ass. Is he really going to sit quietly and meekly by while the Heritage Foundation opens their can of Project 2025 on his flabby, hairless, white ass? Do you think he’s going to let the Federalist Society push him around on judicial nominations or anything else when he doesn’t need them for anything? He’s not going for re-election, right?
If re-elected, he’s fleecing the government and MAGA for every thing he can get and he ain’t letting go or sharing with anyone. Anyone who thinks otherwise ain’t been paying attention.
What do you think? Is Trump the ultimate paper tiger or is he really working with the conservative movement to achieve their goals?

Considering that he is a classic Narcissist, he definitely is NOT going to go along with anyone else’s plans, but will use them to gain his own desires.

His only desire now is grift. He has no interest in actually “running” the country. The bargain he may make is if you send me x amount in income, you get to make the appointments and hiring decisions. But, since Trump fights with everyone, he’ll fight with them. Chaos is the only thing he’s comfortable with and knows, so he creates it wherever he goes.
Whatever is in Project 2025, Trump’s feculent touch will does its job on it, too.

One of Trump’s advisers, I forget who, once commented that the way to manage him was to suggest things in a way that allows him to think he thought of it, and to be the last voice he hears before making the decision. That said, it is clear that those who plan to use him as a figurehead to destroy democracy do have good executive functioning and are actively making plans and preparation for their agenda if he wins, and for invalidating the election if he looses. They will also be working to shape his choice of a Vice-president. After all, he is old and in questionable health, including likely dementia. They would be quite comfortable giving him a funeral worthy of a Dear Leader of North Korea with extravagant national grief.
So, we come to the other question: What have the Good Guys, the FBI, Secret Service, CIA, etc. learned, and how are they preparing to stop the next coup attempt?

Like everyone else who throws their hat into the ring with Dementia Don — it is pretty clear that he has some form of dementia that worsens with high stress — they will discover the power of the feculent touch. Trump knows the the “trick” that Bannon played on him with Pence. He’ll be wary of being manipulated into a VP pick. He wants a Dan Quayle type. Probably Scott will be it.
Like all narcissists, being manipulated is a narcissistic wound. If he gets a whiff of being manipulated, if he just thinks its possible, and with dementia paranoia is heightened, he will react by trying to destroy the manipulator. Should he be elected, there will be a revolving door of advisors because of it.

Whoever Trump picks as VP will play very little role in any decision making, either in the campaign or if they were to win. Trump will not make the mistake of picking someone who, like Pence, brings their own base, because he would not trust them and doesn’t think he needs that anymore. It probably will not be anybody we’ve hear much of because there’s only one spotlight and Trump doesn’t share it. A sock puppet would suit Trump well.

I think anyone who’s tied themselves to Trump’s coattails hoping for him to help advance their agenda is in for a big surprise unless they can sell it to him. Whatever it is the evangelicals are thinking they’re going to get out of Trump 2.0, they are sadly mistaken. Once he no longer needs them, he ain’t doin’ whatever it is. He already thinks they are sad pathetic losers, he will treat them with disdain. It is the same with MAGA and every other constituency and hanger on.
Trump will also use the Veep sweepstakes to humiliate those who have offended him a la dangling secretary of state before Mitt Romney. Probably other appointments, too. The only quality that will matter to Trump in his appointments is loyalty to him and willingness to do his bidding no matter how many laws are broken just like Allen Weisselberg.

His primary concerns will be getting rid of all his charges and debts, taking revenge on any and all who’ve ever done him wrong, and securing himself in the White House for life. Oh, and being a full member of the club of absolute rulers, finally accepted and honored as an equal by Putin, Xi, Kim, etc. The fulfillment of his promises to his various constituencies will always be just over the horizon, or proclaimed rather than accomplished. He will destroy any of his lackeys and enablers who begin to look a bit too strong or popular. There will be no heir apparent.

These, failures, only showed, that as Trump can’t even, “control” his men, then, he has, ABSOLUTELY, NO business, running a country. He couldn’t even, make his employees, work well enough under him, how can this, incompetent, BUSINESSMAN, manage a, whole, country. He has, ZERO morals, and if he were to get elected again, the U.S. will surely get SOLD OFF, for, SCRAPS…

Trump can’t learn. He never bothered to figure out the chain of command. In the spring of 2017, he literally lost a carrier group in the Pacific because of it. In 2019 and 2020, many of his “orders” to the military and other agencies were ignored because they didn’t come through proper channels. Remember he appointed Sidney Powell special prosecutor to investigate the rigged 2020 election.
His second term will all the grift all the time. It is the only thing he cares about besides mending his narcissistic wounds, old and new. It will be a horrific display of chaos and excess.
