The Truth Social Rant: A Summary

By now many people have heard about the weird, bizarrely abusive, violence-fueled, and fascistic Truth Social posting rant that the Old Felonious Authoritarian Rapist Traitor or Old FART went on on Wednesday morning. If not, let’s list some of the low-lights of them:

  • “HOW TO ACTUALLY ‘FIX THE SYSTEM’” AI-generated images of popular Democrats in orange jumpsuits. It’s just bothsidesism, right? If one side is indicted and convicted for crimes they actually committed, it is only fair to charge the other side for crimes that they haven’t committed, right?
  • PROSECUTING ACTUAL FELONIES COMMITTED BY A MAJOR CANDIDATE election interference and prosecutorial misconduct? I dunno, calling for special prosecutor Jack Smith to “be prosecuted for election interference & prosecutorial misconduct” just for doing his job sounds like fascism to me.
  • “PUBLIC MILITARY TRIBUNALS” for Obama because? Nothing wrong with a casual call for fascistic show trials, right? Perfectly normal in our democracy.
  • “INDICT,” “SEDITION,” and “LOCK THEM UP” were the comments along side photos of various 6 January Congressional Committee members. Seriously, is it totalitarian to want to lock people up in prison for doing their jobs and not actually committing any crime whatsoever? Just a little?
  • “FUNNY HOW BLOWJOBS IMPACTED BOTH THEIR CAREERS DIFFERENTLY…” You’ll never guess who the Old FART is referring to! Clinton and Harris. While this might be the laugh line in a boys night out bromance rom-com, it causes one to question the judgment or maybe even the cognitive acuity of a political candidate.

Disqualifying Behavior in Leadership

These posts aren’t just crass, abusive, and fascistic, they’re downright disqualifying for anyone hoping to lead a nation. However, many of the headlines in the MSM are like this one from NBC News, “Trump turns to Truth Social to share sexual jokes and calls for ‘military tribunals’. ”

Um… seriously? Sex jokes and “military tribunals?” They make it sound like just another average day in an average American presidential election when they are big flaming red flags that we all ought to scooping our jaws up off of the floor after having read.

Let’s take a look at why these post are not just another example of Trump being Trump and should be taken much more seriously.

Trump’s Psychiatric Diagnosis and Dysfunctional Behavior in Context

Trump’s Narcissism

There is widespread agreement among psychiatric experts, the media, and the public that Trump exemplifies Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Throughout his first term, we documented numerous behaviors indicative of this condition.

According to the Merck Manual, individuals with NPD exhibit “a pattern of feeling superior to other people, needing to be admired, and lacking empathy.” They often believe they are exceptional, expect special treatment, and may exaggerate their achievements. Additionally, they are hypersensitive to criticism, reacting with unreasonable anger or extreme depression. They may fantasize about being important or beautiful—sound familiar?—and frequently envy others, believing that others envy them in return. This can be seen in Trump’s admiration for authoritarian figures like Putin, Xi, and Kim Jong-Un.

Trump’s Narcissistic Collapse

When their delusion of perfection is severely threatened, individuals with NPD may experience what is known as narcissistic collapse. In this state, they react with hostility, anger, and criticism towards those they perceive as responsible for their distress. They may lash out, attempting to hurt others by blaming them for their failures, gaslighting to deflect attention from their shortcomings, or spreading lies to damage reputations. This often manifests as impulsive and reckless behavior, such as extended rants on social media.

While many in the media and public dismiss the Old FART’s outrageous antics as just ‘Trump being Trump,’ this latest bout of incoherent, inchoate, invective reveals a much deeper issue.

Trump Has Never Won Anything Without Cheating, Why Would He Start Now?

After nearly a decade of Trump on the national political stage, we know what he’s willing to do. He’s willing to lie, cheat, and steal, literally. He is the prolific liar in the history of human kind, (link to post). He cheated in his golf courses’ tournaments. He tried to rig two polls in the mid-2010’s. He tried to overturn the 2020 election through a variety of methods and other high jinks. And, he stole secret documents.

He infamously told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by,” and they took that to heart when they attacked the Capitol on January 6.

Trump has proven himself to be a clear and present danger to our national security and our way of life in the best of times, now that it is the worst of times for him, what will he do?

The 2024 Election Landscape: Threats of Violence & Dog Whistles of Stealing the Election

Trump’s Claims About Victory and Fairness

Trump has frequently claimed that he doesn’t need a large voter turnout to win the 2024 election. Instead, he insists that all he requires is a “fair” vote count—suggesting that even divine intervention, like having Jesus himself count the votes, would secure him victory in California.

Many election watchers interpret his statements as a dog whistle for overturning a potential loss in 2024. Observers have noted his praise for Republican members of the Georgia state elections board, indicating they may refuse to certify results in which he loses or attempt to nullify votes in Democratic districts.

Since 2020, Republicans have made the routine certification of election results less routine, questioning the validity of results they dislike. In 2020, both the Old FART and Ronna McDaniel pressured Michigan state board officials to refuse certifying the election outcome, which worked temporarily. In 2022, several county-level Republican election board members also refused to certify elections until ordered by state courts.

Republican Plans for Refusing to Certify the Vote and Nullifying Democratic Majority Districts and Precincts

Now, as we approach the 2024 elections, several states—most notably Georgia—have passed laws allowing state certification boards to refuse to certify votes based on “irregularities,” without clearly defining what constitutes an irregularity. This includes the potential to nullify votes from specific precincts.

Rachael Maddow has suggested that these refusals to certify and nullify votes serve two primary goals:

  1. Judicial Intervention: Our election process has specific dates that specific tasks must be completed by. If the GOP can tie the certification of votes up long enough in the courts, they can create a scenario desperate enough for courts to intervene, similar to the 2000 election. This could then allow a corrupt partisan Supreme Court or the House voting by state delegation to determine the election outcome.
    • John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett all participated in the Gore v. Bush case, and Clarence Thomas is the only remaining justice from that decision.
    • The Republicans hold majorities in 26 of the 50 House delegations in this Congress, and probably in the next regardless of who wins a majority, meaning, they will throw it to Trump if they vote along party lines.
    • If the Old FART can maneuver the election out of the hands of the American people, he could effectively crown himself as dictator.
  2. Public Perception: Questions raised by seemingly credible state actors could instill enough doubt about the election’s validity in the American consciousness that a SCOTUS or House decision would be accepted. This strategy aligns with the “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” theory, or the where “there’s dry ice in water, there’s enough smoke to obscure what we’re really doing” theory, creating enough controversy to normalize any illegitimate decisions made.

The Old FART may be so confident in this route to victory that he believes he doesn’t need to campaign. Alternatively, he could be skimming so much money from his campaign and the RNC or may be too cognitively impaired that he can’t campaign effectively. Who can tell?

Trump’s Promises of Violence in about Two Weeks

Trump’s Previous Promises of Violence and Attempts at Violence

Trump has promised violence several times before: if he lost the 2020 election, if he were indicted, and now on the eve of the 2024 election if he loses. However, he’s only delivered on this promise once—when his supporters stormed the Capitol in 2021. He indicated that if he were indicted on state or federal charges, his supporters would riot, yet they didn’t even show up for rallies or protests outside courthouses.

I don’t discount the possibility of violence after the 2024 elections. Political violence has escalated since Trump began stoking it on the national stage, but he appears incapable of organizing it himself. Someone else would need to instigate such violence, which makes it less likely.

Trump’s Failure to Lead During the 6 January Insurrection

In 2020, Trump claimed he would go to the Capitol with his supporters, but he failed to make it happen. He could have easily mobilized his followers but instead sat in front of the TV, seemingly indifferent. He also had the opportunity to invoke the Insurrection Act to empower the militias, yet he did nothing.

Given that he failed his followers during their best chance to violently overthrow the government, is anyone likely to organize violence in his name now? While sporadic acts of violence may occur, especially if he manages to regain the Oval Office, it seems less probable that it will be orchestrated in a meaningful way.

Trump’s narcissistic collapse makes him dangerous. He is willing to take extreme measures to return to power, hoping to halt his trials, avoid incarceration, and seek revenge on his opponents. However, he cannot do it alone; he needs others to assist him.

Trump’s Ability to Inspire Disinformation, Chaos, and Violence

Unfortunately, many are willing to help, but there are also voices within and outside the GOP opposed to him. Lacking the executive functioning to plan or lead, Trump relies on his ability to inspire unrest.

His presence on platforms like Truth Social and X amplifies his influence, making the situation more perilous. He will continue to fan the flames of violence, hoping for more “Second Amendment solutions,” petty personal violence, and the rise of militias with absurd plans, like kidnapping governors and staging show trials.

If he can create enough chaos before, during, and after the 2024 election through disinformation, divisive rhetoric, and confusion, he may find a way back to the Oval Office—where he can pay pee-hookers to piss on the Constitution, our civil rights, and the Resolute Desk while the world burns from climate change.
