This week the we saw the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride into Congress, RFK, Jr. Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel. While all of Trump’s appointees are no good, very bad, and intent on destroying the agency they lead, these four really are the worst of the worst. If they get approved, we can truly expect to see Conquest, War, Famine, and Death from the Book of Revelation descend upon the US.
In an era of what I like to call the “Explosive Diarrhea of Propaganda,” we must be strategic in our battles. This is one we should fight like hell for. So, call your Congress members—no matter who they are—and register your disgust with these nominees. Use the table of contents above to find the information you need.
We’ll start with the script, since that is probably what most of us want to see by this point.
The Script for Calling Your MoC
When you call your Member of Congress, be prepared for someone to answer or for their voicemail to be available. Here’s a suggested script:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [STATE and LOCALITY].
I’m calling today to tell [YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS] to vehemently oppose the nominations of Robert Kennedy, Pam Bondi, Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel to their respective positions. The recent spat of airplane crashes over DC and in Philadelphia — after sixteen years without a fatal commercial plane flight accident — underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of our federal agencies.
While we KNOW many of Trump’s nominees are unqualified, these three have a well-documented history of causing real harm in the areas they would lead. Kennedy’s anti-science and anti-vaccine crusades have resulted in suffering and fatalities among children and vulnerable populations. Bondi was evasive about whether she would destroy evidence against Trump while serving as attorney general. Gabbard has been overly friendly and sympathetic to hostile states and their leaders. Lastly, Patel maintains an enemies list and openly wants to use the FBI to hurt opponents of Trump’s.
None of these individuals can be allowed to lead these critical agencies. Please vote against their nominations.
Thank you for your time and attention.
IF LEAVING A VOICEMAIL: please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied.
Calling your Members of Congress
General Considerations for Calling Your MoC
Here’s what you need to do when calling your Members of Congress:
- Use a Script: Always have a script ready when calling your representative. This isn’t a casual chat; you’re expressing your opinion on an important issue. A script helps you be efficient and ensures you don’t leave anything out.
- Be Polite: I cannot emphasize this enough. You are speaking to a real live low-level person in the office. Regardless of the issue, it’s not their fault, and emotionally abusing them is simply wrong.
- Phone Numbers: Below are the switchboard numbers for the White House and Congress, along with links to find office numbers and other contact information.
Finding the Contact Information for Your MoC
For a the full monty regarding what to do when contacting government office holders from the local to the federal level, please see Influencing Your Member of Congress and Other Government Office Holders: A Guide to Surviving 2025 and Beyond. However, if you are ready to go and confident, here are the numbers you’ll need or the links to find them. The switchboards are in Washington DC, so business hours are in EST. They are also busy, so you may want to contact your MoC’s office directly. Often, they are busy or have filled their voice inboxes, so you may want to use an alternate strategy for influencing them as outlined in the guide.
- Call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414 or the comments line at 202-456-1111 during business hours.
- Get contact information for U.S. senators.
- Find website and contact information for U.S. representatives.
- Call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 during business hours. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Representative or Senate office you request.

Good for you, Jack. First, I hope you’re feeling better; sounds like you’ve been going through a really rough period.
Second, I sure hope folks are taking your advice, and mine, and that of many others. A noisy citizenry is essential if we are to beat back Trump/Musk/Oligarchs. (I had run Mark Elias’s “10 Things We Can Do to Help Democracy” a few days before you did, great mind!)
Indivisible is having a “Virtual Community Event” on Sunday, February 2, at 8 PM EST. The purpose: “TAKE ACTION TO FIGHT THE TRUMP FUNDING FREEZE.” Anyone interested can register at http://www.mobilize.us.

While I’ve been moping around moaning that there isn’t anything I can do to change things, I realized that the single most effective thing we can do is call our government officials. It is the thing. I’m glad I started writing the contact your members of Congress posts again.
I’ve seen the virtual event on my social medias, but I don’t have a US phone number, so I can’t participate, otherwise I would. However, I’m thrilled to death that it is being done, and I’ve promoted it on my social media.
Every day something worser than the day before seems to happen. The for-profit media has covered the things Trump et al. are doing and sanetized most of it, but they haven’t covered much of anything the opposition is doing. There are protests happening around the country, but there isn’t any coverage of them even when they’re big and in DC.
We just have to hold on, push back when and where we can, and be ready to pick up the pieces once it all breaks.

Jack, I returned to your blog when I realized I hadn’t given the complete contact URL, but I didn’t see my response to you and thought you’d deleted it. Please go to my Call to Action post, copy the URL, and correct what I gave you to put on your blog. Thanks.

I have the blog settings so that I approve every comment before it appears. It cuts down on the trolls. I probably hadn’t approved it yet, meaning I hadn’t looked at the dashboard since you made the comment. My apologies.

In this case, the MoC to call is your Senator. They are the ones voting on the appointments. Alas, mine, has already made clear that he is voting to approve whomever Trump wants.

It’s that lock step blind support that is so discouraging, especially when it is so clear what they’re trying to do. I can’t believe anyone would support such wanton destruction of the country and planet, but that’s where we are.

They are: (1) being actively threatened at least with primary challenge and cut off of campaign money if they don’t. (2) Some of them actually believe the BS. (3) Some really do want to burn it all down.

And to the person they believe that the single most important thing for the country is for them to be holding the office they are right now. If they left office, it would be a national disaster, so they’ll do whatever they have to do to stay in office for the good of the country. No sacrifice is too great.

Great info…..I hate to admit it but in 2020 I supported Gabbard during the debates and stuff and then found out what a douche she is….the public needs to get more involved in whatever way they choose. chuq

When she first rolled herself out as a presidential candidate, she seemed like she might be a legit progressive. Then, she clearly sold herself to the highest bidder and started doing the work of fascists, oligarchs, and kleptocrats. I see her as being an existential threat on the same level as Trump. RFK and Patel are just evil and will take sadistic glee in the harm they cause. She is out to destroy in the name of Putin or somebody.
We definitely need to put the participation back into participatory democracy.

I am a lot more cautious when looking for a candidate to support….I wish Americans would think like you….participation other than voting is mandatory or we get Trump and Trump clones. chuq

Right now, the US is treating its politics, politicians, and political parties like a sport, athletes, and teams. The only thing that matters in sports is the team you’re rooting for. You hate the other teams. You trash talk the other teams and their fans. Nothing else matters except you’re part of their fanbase and that becomes part of your identity.
That just isn’t the way politics works. It isn’t what politics is for. You can’t run a government or elections like that. But, that’s what Reagan saddled us with. Reagan nominated Robert Bork for the Supreme Court and Republicans threw a hissy fit when Democrats turned him down flat. We had a verb for a while, being Borked, meaning you were held to account. To Republicans it meant unfairly, to Democrats, fairly. Bork was the fellow who ascended to Attorney General and fired Archibald Cox in the Saturday Night Massacre under Nixon.
The Republicans haven’t forgiven Democrats for making a fuss out of Watergate and driving Nixon from office. They never forgave them for Bork, and it was part of McConnell’s justification for not giving Garland a hearing.
They took away earmark spending in Congress so there was nothing to trade been Representatives and Senators. Now, all we have are who’s team you’re on, and this is what it gets us.
