It is an outrage that Musk and his associates have locked government employees out of crucial computer systems, leading to the removal of those who refuse to grant access. We cannot allow sensitive government information about U.S. citizens to fall into the hands of non-government employees.
Congress and the courts are our avenues for stopping this, so call your member of Congress NOW. Make your voice heard about this ongoing coup.
As citizens, we must express our anger and outrage at the permissiveness of such practices. We need to put an end to this and stand up against Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
The Script for Calling Your MoC
When you call your Member of Congress, be prepared for someone to answer or for their voicemail to be available. Here’s a suggested script:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [STATE and LOCALITY].
I’m calling today to urge [YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS] to take a stand against allowing Elon Musk and other non-government employees access to sensitive information about U.S. citizens, and to address the removal of security personnel who refuse him access.
You must act now to uphold the integrity of our government agencies. We cannot allow this outrageous violation of our citizens’ rights to continue.
Thank you for your time and attention.
IF LEAVING A VOICEMAIL: please leave your full street address to ensure your call is tallied.
Calling your Members of Congress
General Considerations for Calling Your MoC
Here’s what you need to do when calling your Members of Congress:
- Use a Script: Always have a script ready when calling your representative. This isn’t a casual chat; you’re expressing your opinion on an important issue. A script helps you be efficient and ensures you don’t leave anything out.
- Be Polite: I cannot emphasize this enough. You are speaking to a real live low-level person in the office. Regardless of the issue, it’s not their fault, and emotionally abusing them is simply wrong.
- Phone Numbers: Below are the switchboard numbers for the White House and Congress, along with links to find office numbers and other contact information.
Finding the Contact Information for Your MoC
For a the full monty regarding what to do when contacting government office holders from the local to the federal level, please see Influencing Your Member of Congress and Other Government Office Holders: A Guide to Surviving 2025 and Beyond. However, if you are ready to go and confident, here are the numbers you’ll need or the links to find them. The switchboards are in Washington DC, so business hours are in EST. They are also busy, so you may want to contact your MoC’s office directly. Often, they are busy or have filled their voice inboxes, so you may want to use an alternate strategy for influencing them as outlined in the guide.
- Call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414 or the comments line at 202-456-1111 during business hours.
- Get contact information for U.S. senators.
- Find website and contact information for U.S. representatives.
- Call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 during business hours. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Representative or Senate office you request.

Forget about anything ever being normal in America ever again because those days are gone forever and will never return…the power people will see to that ….ignorance prevails….lawlessness is rampant — corruption reigns….there is no turning back…. we have crossed the Rubicon.

I’m as pessimistic as I’ve ever been on the immediate future of the world. The thing no one is really reporting on is the coming climate disaster that Trump is guaranteeing. That’s the real disaster that we’re facing.

We can, express our anger all we want, but, those higher up on the, totem pole, whom we put into office, will, continue to remain DEAF, to the people’s screams, and, in the end, it’s still, “we the people” who are to blame, because, we were, too, STUPID, to believe in the lies of a corrupt political party like the GOP, to, misbelieve, that, theses elected officials have the best interests of we the people in mind when they propose and, pass the, bills into laws. And, the people, will still be, not-wise-enough, to, vote Democrat after this current GOP presidency term, finishes up, because, people are, stuck, in their, comatose, and, there’s, NOTHING that anyone can do about it, unless, the people start, revolting, but this is, extremely, unlikely, so, “we the people”, continue, live as, SLAVES to the, governments we elect into, office.

I don’t know how the Taiwanese parliament works or the individual parliamentarians respond to their constituents, but I know that constituent calls affect members of Congress. One of the biggest and most important victories was saving the ACA under Trump.
Whether or not Republicans feel like they can be held accountable at the ballot box any longer is another question. They may think that they have gerrymandered their districts and suppressed the vote enough to insulate their elections from the displeasure of their constituents. I don’t know.
But, until this Congress, contacting your members of Congress was the best way an individual could influence government in the US outside of voting.

I thought I’d follow up on this comment by noting how the Trump admin has backed off some of its more egregious actions in some of the agencies they’re meddling with. This is in part due to constituents contacting their members of Congress in both parties. According to Adam Schiff, Democratic senators have been getting lots of phone calls.
At least in the first month of Trump 2.0, our folks in Congress respond to our calls. We’ll see if it continues.

I guess I’m going through the stages of grief here. Everything I’ve read just makes me so gosh darn mad. The things Musk is doing in our government are beyond outrageous. How can Congress sit by and just watch it happen? Congress more than anyone should know what is at risk and should be out front in stopping it.
Huzzah!

PS Thank you for the kind words. I actually think about keeping those script simple and direct because no one wants a long winded diatribe or explanation where those calls are concerned.

Trump really has any Republican on Capitol Hill either unquestioningly loyal or terrified of trying to do anything against him. It is frightening to think how bad things would have to get to break through that.

The thing that gets me is that every elected official acts like the single most important thing in the world is them remaining in office. They won’t risk anything.
You know what Leon Festinger had to say about changing people’s minds. It is damn difficult and people will actively avoid information that contradicts their point-of-view.
If they couldn’t quit Trump in January 2021, I don’t see them quitting him any time soon.
