The big distraction and red meat for the base was Trump banning various media outlets for LYING, social mediaing. It’s farcical for the, #ScienceFact, most prolific liar in the history of human kind to be lying that these media outlets are lying about him. It has become a trope to say that Trump projects. I doubt that is what is happening here. It is more of his tactic to discredit the media in the eyes of MAGA. After all, Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes fame claimed that the had told her in July 2016, “You know why I do it [accuse the press of being fake news]? I do it to discredit you all and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me, no one will believe you.”
Given his poor standing in the polls, I wonder how that is working out for him some ten years on. Perhaps it hasn’t aged very well.
His statements on social media and to reporters have been so remarkable. He claims that he doesn’t want people and organizations to constantly lie. He thinks there is something wrong with a country that tolerates such bald-faced lying. And, that somebody ought to do something! He doesn’t have to let such terrible liars into his, er, the people’s house.
The statements are such a contrast to his constant lying, I thought it would be fun to switch up some of the wording.
From his original social media post:
“Presidents shouldn’t be able to constantly say FICTION and LIES when they’re talking about the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Presidents to follow.”
In response to a reporter’s question:
“There’s something wrong with a country that can allow presidents to purposely tell negative stories… [I]f they want to write them, that’s fine, but I don’t have to let them into my, into the people’s house.”
In response to a reporter’s question:
“I don’t think a court should allow fake news to be written day after day after day… I think that somebody has a right to keep them away if they’re going to write false stories all the time.”
From a social media post:
“The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America… It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped.”
It’s pretty clear that Trump himself thinks he’s not fit for office and shouldn’t be allowed in his, er, the people’s house. Perhaps we should take him up on it by impeaching and removing his dumb sorry ass.
