SUMMARY: A psychosocracy is rule by the psychotic. Psychosis is any behavior or mental process that does not align sufficiently with reality. By that definition, Trump is psychotic. He doesn’t have a full cabinet, if you know what I mean. Instances of his decisions that defy reality should be documented. This post introduces an irregularly occurring regular feature of the blog investigating these psychotic decisions.
KEY WORDS: Psychosis, Trump, Psychosocracy, Decision Making, Reality, Narcissism, National Guard, Washington DC, Governance, Violent Crime Rates
COMMENT: What do you think of Trump’s mental health? What are some questionable decisions that he’s made that might could be examples of his detachment from reality?

Back in the halcyon days of yore, during the innocent and quaint days of the Resistance and the Ol’ Pussy Grabber’s bumbling inept attempt at corruption and authoritarianism when it didn’t feel like we were fighting for our very lives, we here at the Psy focused mainly on the effects of the Orange Caricature’s extreme narcissism and to a lesser extent, his malignant sadistic psychopathy and his executive dysfunction. Now that shit got real as the kids don’t say anymore, and we really are fighting for our very lives least we are departed to El Salvador, I think it is time to focus on a much more destructive aspect of the Orange TACO Stain’s drool, er, rule, his psychosis.
As we wrote last week, when you don’t deal with reality, we call that person crazy for lack of a better term. And, we reviewed several instances where Trump clearly isn’t dealing with reality. Worse, though, if you are out of touch with reality for long enough, reality will bite you in the ass, to paraphrase Obama. When an entire country indulges a leader in their delusions and illusions, the country itself risks severe consequences.
Psychotic Decision Making by Trump
For Trump 2.0, This Time With Vengeance, we need to be looking at what can only be termed the psychotic behavior of Trump, his true believers, his sycophants, and the psychopaths out for personal gain.
Psychosis Defined
Psychosis itself is not a disease, but rather a collection of generally deeply distressing symptoms, where people may struggle to distinguish reality from normal perception. They might hear voices that are not there, hold false beliefs with unshakeable conviction, or find their thoughts becoming jumbled and incoherent.
Treatment For Psychosis May Be ‘Fundamentally Flawed’, Study Finds by Sameer Jauhar on 31 August 2025 Science Alert
When I read this definition of psychosis, I focused on the hold false beliefs with unshakeable conviction part. It describes Trump’s insistance on tariffs, the conspiracy theories about the 2020 elections, and insistance that crime is rampant, especially in the so-called “Blue Cities,” which is only a dog whistle.
Narcissism and Psychosis
We don’t need to argue about whether Trump has some nefarious plan about distracting us from what he’s really doing because it doesn’t matter. What matters is that he is doing crazy shit that isn’t based in reality. Also, the Orange Caricature doesn’t think ahead. He lives strictly in the moment. He is pure instinct and reaction. He doesn’t have guiding principles or beliefs other than the core crazy of his life: What is good for him is good for the world.
The narcissist’s core is that they are the only person that matters. We are all just bit players on their world stage. You don’t get crazier than that, especially when you let it run unchecked as we’re doing now.
We are living in a psychososcracy, rule by a psychotic person or persons.
The National Guard in DC, Psychosocracy in Action
Perhaps the clearest example of all of this is his deployment of national guard troops to Washington D.C. to combat the rampant crime there. They aren’t fighting crime, they’re picking up trash in the national parks! Five hundred bags of it, if the MSM is to be believed. It costs a million dollars a day to keep the guard in DC picking up trash. According to DC residents, they’re only seen in tourist areas and the subway stations. Hunh.
There are real federal law enforcement surged into DC, and they are making arrests, but they are for things like fare evasion or possession. They may be making arrests, but they amount to little more than harassment of the residents in primarily Black areas and will only affect crime rates for as long as they are actually there.
So, we’re spending more than a million dollars per day to keep the national guard and federal law enforcement in DC when the DoJ reports that violent crime in the city has reached a thirty year low BEFORE any of this started.
That is what makes it so bad for us as a nation. We are expending resources to solve a problem that the local governing authority has already solved. And, that is not dealing with reality, so it doesn’t matter why Trump is doing it. It only matters that it is so far removed from what is actually happening.
As a government, if you’re not solving problems, then you’re compounding the problems that exist. Trump’s government isn’t addressing any of the issues facing the country. That’s the problem.

If reality would only bite Trump, and maybe a few of his minions, in the ass, I wouldn’t have problem with it, but all of our butts are on the line too. Now, it isn’t just a matter of another one of his business ventures going bankrupt. Now, it is real danger for real people.
I’ve done assessments for involuntary psychiatric admissions. The three criteria were: Danger to Self, Danger to Others, Gravely Disabled (unable to independently meet basic needs, or accept assistance), by reason of a treatable mental illness. Trump’s psychosis is a danger to us all. Whether it is treatable is quite another question.

There has always been a debate about whether personality disorders were really treatable by psychotherapy or psychoactive medication. I’ve always thought that you couldn’t treat them as in helping someone not have their personality disorder, but train them so that it didn’t have such negative impact on their lives and the lives of people around them.
Trump is definitely a danger to all of us. His behavior threatens the entire world and he already is responsible for millions of deaths and untold misery. How much of a threat he is to himself is unknown. Unfortunately, he does have “great” genes; his father lived well into his nineties. If Trump took care of himself, he would probably have an unnaturally long life, but it probably doesn’t count as being a threat to himself. There has long been speculation that he abuses Adderall and other such medication, but I don’t know about that, either. What is clear is that he is making decisions not based on agreed-upon reality, but by what suits his needs, and that the two diverge to an extreme degree. That so many people in the Republican Party, the country, and the world are willing to enable him to do so is the really frightening part of it all.

Contemplating the fact that he has gotten to the office and such control of a major political party does have a “gazing into the Abyss” feeling. How could so many people see him as a way to get something they want and/or destroy something they hate? He is a symptom, I’m afraid, more than a cause, of something dark and in pain and fear. That will not die with him. Can it be healed, or must it be driven back under it’s rock? I don’t know.
This item I have in the SCRAPINGS today may hold a clue: https://www.psypost.org/dark-triad-personalities-may-be-easier-to-scam-than-youd-think/
He certainly is surrounded by dark triad personalities.
I keep thinking back to “Future Shock”, and wonder whether we, as a species, not just a nation, may have passed a tipping point in “too much change too fast too big” with, accelerating climate disruption adding to the socio/economic/political stressors. It certainly has conservative personalities freaked out.
speaking of personality types, check out Teri Kanefield’s latest: https://terikanefield.com/heres-why/

Thank you for the link. I read Kanefield’s article. It is very comprehensive, and it was gratifying to see her covering some of the same ground that I had using some of the same supporting material. The conclusion is the same, we just might not be psychologically suited to maintaining a democracy. It takes too much hard work, and we evolved to be lazy. It might be as simple as that.

It is so refreshing to read Teri if only, sometimes, for the critical thinking when the environment is awash in BS.

She certainly breaks down the complex legal and political issues and shows how they fit together. That was a GREAT explainer. The lack of agreed upon facts is one of the most serious threats to our country. We gotta agree about something somewhere sometime to work together.

Yes, indeed, on both counts. We have one party that decided explicitly about 30 years ago that the way to win was to insist that anything and everything the other side said was true was not, no matter how obvious or rigorously demonstrated and tested. Now, that has even come to the subject of vaccines, many proven safe and effective and life saving over 50 years and more. It is madness,

That is the problem…..the average American could care less about the Epstein files……instead Donny spends his time getting even with those that ‘wronged’ him….he has never dealt with reality that I recall…..good post….chuq

Confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance are miraculous all purpose concepts. When you think Trump is god’s chosen one, then everything he does is evidence of his selection by god to save us. It’s how his adulterous affairs and bankruptcies have just rolled off his back and not caused even a second of hesitation or doubt in MAGA minds. It’s the same for the Epstein files. Hell, half of MAGA either are wishing they could get away with pedophilia or think that it isn’t that bad… at least it wasn’t when it happened to them.
And, of course, vengeance and insider trading always plays well to the home crowd. They are the gladiator games.

Epstein and his cronies are despicable people that deserve to burn in Hell but with that said I do not think the average American really gives a craap. chuq

Quite frankly, other than its Real Housewives drama, I agree. It isn’t going to make an iota of a difference.

Good point. Either way, the issues are biting the country in the ass as we type.
