It's been five long years of blogging the Trump years. We've laughed, we've cried, we've pulled some of our remaining hair out, but we've made it. It is almost done and our democracy, nation, and souls are still largely intact. Unfortunately, we're not through. There is much more to come as we stitch ourselves back together like some kind of common Frankenstein monster as we recover from the PTSD that Trump gave us and the needless deaths and suffering from #COVID19. We also have to #BidenHarris honest, oppose Republican obstructionism anti-democratic tendencies, and whatever other black swans await us. All of which will be addressed using good old-fashioned snarcky, sarcasticky, profaney fun and psychological insights.

Urge Emily Murphy to Sign the Paper

A Quickie: The Pressure @GSAEmily is Under to NOT #SignThePapers is a Sign of Trump’s and the GOP’s Authoritarianism

Reading time: 3 minutes
We all wonder why @GSAEmily doesn’t just sign the papers to ascertain that #BidenHarris are the apparent winners of Election 2020. She is complying in advance with the desires of an authoritarian. She’s heard the messages of Trump and the GOP and is doing what they want. In the meantime, she is responsible for the thousands of deaths from #COVID19 by denying Biden vital information in the transition.

The Emotional Effect of Defund the Police on White Voters

Defund the Police and Emotional Decision Making

Reading time: 4 minutes
My original Defund the Police post generated a fair amount of discussion in the comments. I found myself repeating information about the affect heuristic a lot, so I thought I’d make it into a blog post. The affect heuristic proves that Defund the Police was a dumb slogan that was bound to drive white suburban women to vote Republican.

Defund the Police Activates the Racial Angst of White America

A Quickie: How “Defund the Police” Played into Republican Hands and White America’s Psyche

Reading time: 3 minutes
The circular firing squad is back on as progressive and moderate Dems argue over who snatched a squeaker from the jaws of a landslide in 2020. Of course, we can’t just celebrate having won one, right? Much of the debate turns on the role of “Defund the Police.” Unfortunately, the cognitive psychology of it points the finger squarely at it.

Are Political Lies Protected Speech?

Is Knowingly Lying for Political Gain Protected Speech? Or a Solution for Bridging our Partisan Divide

Reading time: 6 minutes
There is much talk about bridging our political divide with lots of talk about reaching for white voters being regurgitated. The real problem is the social support that the lies of Trump and the GOP have. To break that social support, we have to consider banning knowingly telling lies for political gain. Those lies are destroying the country.
