It never really made sense until you realize that he is following the most basic of all of the conservative playbooks: psychological threat and the predictable defensive reactions of those who are feeling.

Why do so many people believe what Donald Trump says when it is so clear that he is lying? Why do we have an election in which so many voters are angry and disaffected and in a “revolutionary” mood?
