Rachel Maddow lays out the case of obstruction of justice by the Ol’ Pussy Grabber by reading a letter special counsel Ron Jaworski wrote to the Congressional judiciary committee outlining Nixon’s criminal activity that he had documented. It is a lengthy and detailed list. If you dated it 2018 and changed a few names and other details, it could be about the Ol’ Pussy Grabber only the evidence wasn’t contained on secret White House tapes and written in memos and given in testimony, it is documented in interviews with the Ol’ Pussy Grabber, his public statements, and his tweets.
All in all it is a damning segment that lays out in no uncertain terms that on multiple occasions the Ol’ Pussy Grabber has publicly instructed a variety of officials to stop the Mueller investigation. These people range from AG Sessions to the Senate chair people of various investigative committees to the then director of the FBI, James Comey.
If you haven’t watched the segment, watch it now. It is blistering and sobering that his criminal behavior is not more alarming and offensive to more people namely the Repubes in Congress.
That the electorate and the Repubes are not more outraged by the Ol’ Pussy Grabber’s blatant criminal conduct is grounds for the we are so fucked and the United Fucking States of Fucking Stupid responses.

Me too! I love the way she puts things into historical, cultural, and political perspective. She really gives a complete picture. And, bonus, I get to feel so smart listening to her be so smart!

I have a strange problem. I just can’t be surprised by Trump’s criminality or even his bragging about it. I knew we were in trouble when Ford pardoned Nixon, then again when Reagan skated on Iran-Contra, and yet again when W’s transparent lies about Iraq went virtually unchallenged and unpunished. The pattern was set. The difference with Trump is that he lets it all hang out and doesn’t care who knows, and so far, it seems to be working for him. One must hope that the key phrase there is “so far”.

The US has always had a conservative bend to it including its press. Conservatives represent the continuance of the status quo, authoritarianism. which authoritarian personalities are drawn to, and macho masculinity. Of course, the press and large segments of the population are likely to give them a freer pass than Dems who are the opposite.
Johnson was the closest the Dems have come to a corrupt president given his Gulf of Tonkin sleight of hand to get us into Vietnam. That was a clear defrauding of the US. Even that and his administration cannot hold a candle to the corruption of Nixon, Reagan, Poppy, W, and Trump.
Astonishingly, Clinton warned us at the end of the campaign about Russian influence over Trump, his financial entanglements, Russian meddling, all of it. But, she was a lone voice in the blizzard at the time. Not even Obama felt like he could add to her. The press really dropped the ball. So, here we are without a bottom to the corruption, criminality, and immorality.

Actually, for those of an authoritarian bent, Trumps involvement with Russia and Putin (and a certain Crown Prince) is a plus, not a problem. He basks in the reflected glow of the tyrants he and his followers admire. “When you’re a star, they let you do whatever you want.”
