Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, had a great idea for how you could spend your vacation this year: volunteering in a get out the vote campaign in a swing state near you!

We’ve all fretted over the voter registration purges that the Repubes are engaged in around the country in their effort to suppress the vote and rig the 2020 election in their favor. Now’s your chance to fight back and make a difference!

If you’re game, here’s what you do! You’ve got three choices: (1) Neera suggested contacting the state Democratic Party of the state you’re interested in, (2) contact her and she’d hook you up, or (3) contact a specific campaign, so I’m listing contacts here:

Contact the state Democratic Party of the state you’re interested in helping to organize by going to the State Party Websites page of the Democratic Party website.

Marquita Bradshaw is running for Lamar Alexander’s senate seat in Tennessee. Given the gaslighting BS that he just laid on the country and the pure cray-cray that the junior, soon to be senior, senator, Marsha Blackburn, has been pulling outta the crack of her ass, Tennesseans just might could be ready for a Democrat. WisDems is the website of the Wisconsin Democratic Party. This weekend (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February) they held a statewide canvass event. I know it is too late for you to join that, but they have other events that you can join. You can find them on their Get Involved page. (Updated: Friday 7 February 2020)

actblue has identified House and Senate seats that can be flipped and Senators that are vulnerable and need defending. These districts and states would be ideal for a GoTV campaign and would benefit greatly from volunteers helping out. Research these races and decide where you want to put your effort.

• There are about 50 House seats that didn’t flip in 2018 but were close. Expand the House 2020!
• This is their list of Repube senators that can be defeated and Democratic senators that need defending. Retake the Senate 2020!
