Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country. We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities.

Sinclair vice chairman Jason Smith

What did Kimmel say that would cause Sinclair to choke on its knotted knickers like a common masochist in a bondage parlor? It must have been something pretty terrible. You know, something heinous like Kirk had wanted to prosecute doctors Nuremberg-style — like they were real Nazis who committed atrocities on real live human beings — for delivering medical care to their patients or that Kirk had said freedom of religion doesn’t extended past Christianity or that Kirk had said women were second class citizens. Oh wait, that can’t be it, since Kirk actually said all of those this:

We need to have a Nuremberg-style trial for every gender-affirming clinic doctor. We need it immediately.

Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You’re not in charge.

America has freedom of religion, of course, but we should be frank: large dedicated Islamic areas are a threat to America.

A thread in his own words by Leia the SWPrincess

Sinclair’s sanctimonious statements, Trump’s and his vast horde of useful idiots’ accusations, and all the performative pearl clutching at ABC and Disney are so much gaslighting.

What did Jimmy Kimmel actually say to deserve immediate cancellation?

Um… What? Kimmel barely even references Kirk’s murder other than to orient his remarks about Trump’s and Maga’s reaction to it. So, what was insensitive and inappropriate about it? For the life of me, I can’t find anything.

Some of us think that telling the truth, especially in this age of super sized gaslighting, is important, respectful, educative, and constructive. The truth, no matter how painful to some people, does lead to dialogue in our communities.

That’s the gaslighting part. The Orange Caricature and his ghastly minions don’t want you to know what Kimmel actually said. They want you to accept their lies as truth. That’s the gaslighting part. The part where you dismiss reality in favor of their pipe dream, where you depart reality and are flying solo across the universe navigating by their deceptions.

Don’t let them gaslight you or anyone else, quote Jimmy Kimmel. . Let the world know the hatchet job that MAGA is taking to a popular cultural figure.

When there’s been a significant event that the far right is promoting an entirely false narrative about, we’ve responded with a post headed by Don’t Let Them Gaslight You moniker. These posts offer factual information to contradict the blatant lies being the far right is pushing. Knowing the truth is one of the few ways to counteract gaslighting. But it takes being focused on the truth. You can’t dilute that message by discussing other issues.

While there is a lot going on with Jimmy Kimmel’s cancelling than the MAGA crowd are letting on that needs to be known, this post is going to focus only on countering the gaslighting. Luckily, there are people far better and with bigger platforms than The Psy telling that tale t. Jen Psaki did a good job of walking through the sewage lines interconnecting the FCC, Nexstar, Sinclair, their respective ownerships, mergers, and Trump. It’s well worth your eleven minutes plus buffering to give it a listen. For a briefer run down, there is People’s article on Nexstar wanting an apology and sizeable donation to Toilet Paper USA, er, TPUSA, Kirk’s organization that his avenging widow will make the platform from which she’ll exact her revenge from.
