The Trump Prosecution, Narcissistic Collapse, and the Looming Catastrophe

That Trump is a classic extreme narcissist is now part and parcel of our national conventional wisdom, and every pundit and social media’er glibly diagnosis him with the confidence of a common Freud. Long-time readers of Ye Olde Blogge know that the complete diagnosis for the BeBest Loser of the Shrinking White-Base Party knows that his complete diagnosis is of an ineffective malignant narcissist (see sidebar for an explanation).

The posts of Ye Olde Blogge are chock-a-block full of articles chronicling his narcissistic wounds and his deranged destructive deluded ravings as he goes about “annihilating” all who have hurt him. The salve for the narcissistic wound is to completely obliterate those who have done him wrong. The worse the wound, the more cataclysmic the response.

When the inevitable catastrophe of the hubristic overreach caused by the immoral and disastrous groupthink decisions imposed by every narcissistic leader comes crashing down upon fragile inflated phony facade, and the narcissist is no longer able to manage the delusion of perfection, narcissistic wound becomes narcissistic collapse.

Narcissistic Collapse

Narcissistic collapse — a term new to me, Thanks BobCabKing! — is characterized by deadly peril to those around them. Think the abusive gaslighting narcissist who murders their children to torture their spouse who is leaving, murders their spouse rather than see them leave, and then murders themselves because life is not worth living without the delusion of perfection that has been permanently taken away from them by their evil spouse.

The focus of their deadly rage is the spouse that has wounded them by leaving. But, many other people can be hurt or killed. Think Adam Lanza’s murdered mother, the 20 massacred first graders, and six dead adults of Newtown. Presumably, the prospect of losing his home and a “change” in the relationship with his mother precipitated his rampage.

There is also the very well-known murder-suicide of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun as the allied armies closed in. What is less well known is the satisfaction that Hitler expressed concerning the destruction of Allied bombing on Germany because his generals, his military, and the German people had failed him.

Trump’s Narcissistic Wound #1: Losing the 2020 Election

It doesn’t take a poli-psy blogging dilettante to recognize the similarities between Trump’s current increasingly untenable position and Hitler’s. Since 2016, Trump has suffered frequent injuries to his egotistical illusions of greatness and infallibility. The worst one was losing the 2020 election and resulted in the 6 January Insurrection. Now, we’ve added another the FBI confiscation of his horde of secret documents and potential prosecution for it.

The public hearings of the House Select Committee have revealed the awareness that Trump had of the plans being made on his behalf and the things he did to encourage them. They also have revealed how much he revealed in the destruction that the mob was doing in his name.

Trump’s Narcissistic Wound #2: The Removal of Stolen State Secrets

Similar claims can be made about the super secret papers he absconded with when he left the White House. Whether he kept them as mementoes or keepsakes or to cosplay Executive Branch in his more anxious moments, is immaterial. He had them. They were vulnerable to the intelligence agencies of friend and foe alike and to the machinations of the legion of self-serving immoral grifters that flocked to him there at Merde-a-Loco!

He may have walked out with them with the intent to sell them. He may have sold them when the opportunity presented itself. Or he could have sold them to punish the country for having failed him. Someone else entirely could have sold them. They could have been found by spies! Or, a veritable pu pu platter of treason could have occurred. It doesn’t matter. There presences at his resort has resulted in irreparable damage to our country.

The Trump Difference in the Narcissistic Collapse

However, it should be noted that both the Adam Lanza’s and Adolf Hitler’s narcissistic collapses had one thing in common. The end was coming, it was near, and it was undeniable. The same is not true of the end for The County’s Biggest Loser.

Trump’s narcissism is such that he’ll believe that he is always on the verge of victory. He’s just one more cunning plan away from vanquishing his foes and getting away with it… AGAIN. With the speed that justice moves at in this country, he won’t know that he’s lost until he’s lost.

So what kind of violent fit of narcissistic rage might his narcissistic collapse take?

A Violent Collapse

Traditionally, narcissistic collapse is violent and messy. It seems like the murder of the Las Vegas investigative reporter, Jeff German, by a target of his investigations, County Clerk, Robert Telles, fits the bill. However, I just can’t see Trump running through the halls of Wac-a-Lardo stabbing at people with his tiny hands. Trump just doesn’t do things himself. He gets other people to do them.

Will his secret service detail undertake mass slaughter, then? Maybe. How ’bout every judge he’s ever appointed waking up one morning like Manchurian Candidates to commit mayhem? Sure, why not? Might Ewik and Don-Don? No.

The Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, whatever the percent bunch called themselves, or the rump contingent of the Michigan kidnappers? Probably not, either. I think they’ve got lingering troubles from the last time they hooked up with his pasty hairless flappy white ass.

He and his political lackies — we’re looking at you Sister Lindsey, Boobert, and Maddog Greene — have been making noises about riots and violence should he be charged. There should be some die hard rattled lone wolf types willing to commit a mass shooting or two in his name. There might be some clashes between opposing groups in Portland.

A Ranting Collapse

He might could make some kind of rally-social media rant that might fire up the loonies once he’s charged. Of course, that assumes that there isn’t an injunction barring him from fanning the flames.

The cray-cray that the Losingest Loser sprays at us will only become more shrill and hysterical, though. He’s got plenty of people like Judge Cannon willing to sacrifice their reputations and careers for him. He’s got several others willing to pay the debts and resort membership fees — did Judge Cannon accept a comped membership at Lulz-a-Grifto — like some common Boof-K? Just because we won’t have running gun battles in the streets and bomb threats at polling stations, doesn’t mean that we are safe from the fallout from Trump’s impending and slow moving narcissistic collapse.
