It’s new years time again. Here at Ye Olde Blogge we don’t have a tradition of looking back over the year that was, but we kinda did this time. Unfortunately, we screwed it up and looked all the way back to 2017 and didn’t stop until we hit 2020. We take a look at some of the posts that best characterize each of those years and trace out our recent national history ending with a bold prediction for 2020.
Our democracy is being gutted right before our very eyes. Every day there is a fresh new attack upon our sensibilities, democratic institutions, traditions, norms. Everyday there is a new government representative trying to present the unreasonable as reasonable, the irrational as rational, the untrue as truth, the immoral as moral. To keep a democracy, we have to be informed. That is the Great Civics Lesson
Didn’t vote for Clinton, so you pissed away Obama’s last Supreme Court nomination. Now the Pussy Grabber could be looking at one or even two more nominations sealing a conservative majority on the Court for a generation. We could lose every gain we’ve made during the past 60 years. Didn’t vote for Clinton. Are you happy now?
Our democracy is a binary winner take all choice. You helped a candidate win by voting for her or a candidate who didn’t have a chance or you voted for the loser. You own your vote. You own her policies, laws, and governing style. #YouAreYourVote
It’s a meme! Share it widely! The Constitution Matters! Voting Matters! The Ol’ Pussy Grabber continues his civics lesson to us all!
If you didn’t vote, it’s a little late now to be trying to “rise up as a people” or to make your voice heard. We vote. That’s when we rise up as a people. We vote. That’s when we make our voices heard.
