I’ve reblogged Vox’s article on the true story that inspired Arlo Guthrie’s Thanksgiving masterpiece — the Charlie Brown’s Christmas of Thanksgiving, amirite? — to help us to be more thankful for the good things we’ve got and treat each other with kindness in these stressful times.

I’ve reposted an article from the Stanford Graduate School of Business reporting on a study correlating political protests with swings in voting. It finds a positive correlation. Have a look for yourself and let me know what you think in the comments.

In a breathe of fresh air, we get polling that lefty voters are voting based on their concerns for the amount of political power vested in old white men and their willingness to control PoC’s and women with it. Read it and rejoice. All may not be lost just yet.

We need to develop everyday empathy with the people we encounter in our daily lives. That is to have a better understanding of their experience and our contributions to it.
This is a reblogged story of a woman’s experience working in Iraq shortly after the fall of Baghdad. It helped me understand the constant corrosive nature of sexism on women, which can easily be extended to the constant corrosive nature of racism on PoC’s.

In one of our first annual posts, Ye Olde Blogge re-blogs a post from Wonkette — mother of all snarky newsy inspiration — to do our part to celebrate Labor Day!
And as always, we are doing our part to be part of the Procrasti Nation! A day late and re-posting someone else’s article pretty much meets the bill.

Red flag laws have become the new bump stock bans which became the new large-capacity magazine ban which became the new enhanced background checks which became the new assault weapons ban. So, if you’re feeling slightly dizzy and nauseous like we’ve whirled right past this one, too, already, well, I understand. But, red flag laws might have the magic of being the best of both worlds: preventing suicides and mass shootings! This article from FiveThirtyEight.com explains it all and still manages to shoot gun reform laws in the dick!
Fighting fascism could get you classified as a terrorist – but the Raccoons of the Resistance are here | First Dog on the Moon | Opinion | The Guardian
Every now and again a little silly cute humor is needed to pull the soul back from the dank darkness of our political abyss. Luckily, we have the First Dog on the Moon drawing Raccoons of the Resistance over at The Guardian to help us with that. Have a read of their comic about saving us all from fascism! It’ll do you good, especially if you read it while drinking a #MoscowMitchMule
Why is the press such a useful idiot when it comes to conservative lies, diversions, conspiracy theories, and other transparent manipulations? Prospect theory and loss aversion hold the answers, but it don’t make it no better. Can one of our pillars of democracy stand up and save our democracy? Please? Does it have to be We The People? I guess so.
Don’t respect yourself or your office, don’t expect others to either. The Ol’ Pussy Grabber got epic trolled!
What’s it like to live a life of physically demanding work, endless discrimination, sexual harassment, and physical danger? Exhausting. Step into the life of the cable guy and check it out.
My now defunct Twitter feed was littered with tweets declaring that the Republican Party was an anti-democratic authoritarian bent on creating a single-party pseudo-democratic state in order to further enrich the one percent. In this argument, the Ol’ Pussy Grabber is nothing more than a means to an […]
This article is one written for my own heart: it’s psychologiey, snarky, sarcasticky, and profaney. But wait, there’s more: it has dick jokes AND it reports the science as it actually is not how we want it to be as is so often the case in the reporting […]
Here’s something interesting about sexual assault that I did not know: there is a class of people who commit antisocial behavior an adolescent or young adult, but then by their mid-twenties, quit being antisocial and join the rest of civilized society. Sexual assault and perjury both qualify as […]
This article is right up the Psy’s alley: it uses psychology — although without explicitly identifying the tendencies as such — to explain our inexplicable politics. However, it is not nearly snarky, sarcasticky, or profaney enough. That’s okay, I fixed that by writing this here introduction. It is […]
It’s like we forgot that the conservative-liberal split of the court hung in the balance in the 2016 election. How could we forget? Mitch McConnell stole — traitorously stole because any such violation of the Constitution can only amount to treason — a Supreme Court seat. And we […]
The trends that I’ve been seeing have me even more alarmed than I ever have been before. As a whole, as a country, as an electorate, we have gone from being the United Fucking States of Fucking Stupid to being the United Fucking States of Even Fucking Stupider. […]
This story makes it clear that as sexual arousal increases, empathy decreases making sexual assault all the more likely as situations are more ambiguous or when someone changes her mind. It is a cautionary tale for men. A call to examine for each man to examine his past and present to help ensure that #TimesUp means that time is really up.
The brain is easy to fool. Seeing is believing after all. Even knowing these photos are fake helps prime the brain for believing that they are true. But, they’re interesting anyway.
After 30 years reporting on the Ol’ Pussy Grabber’s lies, gossip columnist, Susan Mulcahy, dishes on experience with all the lies, lies, lies! However, she gets one little thing wrong. He doesn’t lie because he was trained to be a pathological liar, for the real reason, have a quick read of my introduction to her article. Then tell me what you think in the comments!
