What did we learn from Trump's America?

Reflecting on the End of Trump’s America: What Did We Learn and How Did We Change?

Reading time: 6 minutes
While 2020 was an eventful year and one that we should all reflect on, it also marks the end of Trump’s era in our lives. Join me in reflecting on the things we’ve learned and how we’ve changed during Trump’s time in office.

Urge Emily Murphy to Sign the Paper

A Quickie: The Pressure @GSAEmily is Under to NOT #SignThePapers is a Sign of Trump’s and the GOP’s Authoritarianism

Reading time: 3 minutes
We all wonder why @GSAEmily doesn’t just sign the papers to ascertain that #BidenHarris are the apparent winners of Election 2020. She is complying in advance with the desires of an authoritarian. She’s heard the messages of Trump and the GOP and is doing what they want. In the meantime, she is responsible for the thousands of deaths from #COVID19 by denying Biden vital information in the transition.

Following Trump and Barr into Autocracy, Reviewing Masha Gessen’s “Autocracy: Rules for Survival”

Reading Time: 5 minutes
If you are as worried sick as I am about the fate of our democracy, then you’ll want to read my review of Masha Gessen’s 2016 article, Autocracy: Rules for Survival that was published in The New York Review of Books. When we compare her six rules to the sorry state of affairs, real despair sets in. It’s like watching one of those slasher horror films, you know what’s going to happen and there’s absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. Even though the character is being extremely stupid and doing stuff no one would ever do outside of a movie, you still gotta sit there and watch it.

Trump being acquitted shows how democracy could really die – Vox

Reading Time: 3 minutes
The deliberate flaunting of democracy and the open destruction of it by the GOP just pisses me off. They are so sure that the electorate either cannot or will not hold them accountable that they aren’t even bothering to hide it. If we let them get away with it in November. If we don’t vote Trump and the Senate majority out in November, then we really are the United Fucking States of Fucking Stupid.

MEME: Putin has bought the Republican Party

Reading time: less than a minute
Here is the reason that no Republican will suddenly find their courage, backbone, or patriotism and stand up to Mitch McConnell and the Ol’ Pussy Grabber. They want the corruption. They want the fixed elections. They want the incompetent judges. They want oligarchy. They want authoritarianism.Putin has sold them on the Russian system of corrupt governance. Putin has bought and paid for them. They no longer hold democratic values.

The Fascisting of America: DNI Blows Off Laws and Congress, Autocracy Blooms, Impeachment is Imperative

Reading time: 3.5 minutes
In the latest and greatest sign that we are sliding down that slippery slope into fascism, the DNI blows off laws and Congress to protect the Ol’ Pussy Grabber’s potentially treasonous promises to a foreign leader and not to protect our democracy from the encroaching fascism of the Ol’ Pussy Grabber. How do you like them apples?

Climate Change = Increases in Demagoguery, Nationalism, Authoritarianism, Violence, and Cruelty

Reading time: 9 minutes!?! OUCH! There are lots of heading, though, so you can skip around and find the juiciest most interesting parts.
Climate change news just keeps getting worse. And, until we reach some kind of happy equilibrium — that’s a population of about 500,00 human beings, BTW — with planet earth, it probably will just keep getting worse, too. I mean, as bad as it is right now, when billions of people begin dying, that will be worse. So, what happens when the worst happens? Unfortunately, even more bad stuff: violence and cruelty

Trump: Unstable Influencer

Is the very model of a very stable genius an unstable influencer? A leadership style that relies on strong-arm tactics, intimidation, humiliation, and name calling is inherently unstable. The leader is not respected by peers, followers, or subordinates.
