The real danger of Trump is that he has no idea of the harm he causes. When he does realize that he’s causing harm, he enjoys it. It boosts his ego. His followers don’t see non-MAGAs as people. It is why they injure and hurt people over masks. It’s why they parade around with guns. They enjoy the fear they inspire. Trump’s lack of empathy is the root of his failure and a very real and present danger to us all.

We need to develop everyday empathy with the people we encounter in our daily lives. That is to have a better understanding of their experience and our contributions to it.
This is a reblogged story of a woman’s experience working in Iraq shortly after the fall of Baghdad. It helped me understand the constant corrosive nature of sexism on women, which can easily be extended to the constant corrosive nature of racism on PoC’s.

This story makes it clear that as sexual arousal increases, empathy decreases making sexual assault all the more likely as situations are more ambiguous or when someone changes her mind. It is a cautionary tale for men. A call to examine for each man to examine his past and present to help ensure that #TimesUp means that time is really up.
Real science is the basis for some real suggestions for what non-rapey men should do during this time of accusation, denial, and faux apologies. The advice that results might even surprise #MattDamon!
The divide between left and right seems to be growing ever wider. We can examine the division using both the sexual harassment accusations and moral foundation theory, but our conclusion questions whether we can bridge the divide at all.
